Why doesn't anyone like Dirge for November?
I love Dirge for November. The silent first couple of minutes is amazing. When it gets heavier it's pretty damn good as well.

Fantastic song.
Why doesn't anyone like Dirge for November?
Everyone does, we just have songs we prefer over it. It has been said many times that every Opeth song is a masterpiece, and that's true.

I can't believe I've held out downloading the new album for so long. But now only 2 days left (comes out on the 28th here in Australia) I think its been all worth it. Can't wait to hear the new album. :D

Cudos for holding out....you will not be dissapointed.
Why doesn't anyone like Dirge for November?
I do....it's in my top 3 Opeth songs, and it has the most meaning to me.

The Flabbit Rides High 08-26-2005 05:16 AM

Dirge definatley is one my fav with the most feeling to me.

lost_profits 08-26-2005 05:29 AM

Its funny I thought Dirge was one of the weaker moments in BWP.

The good thing about Opeth is, there is always debate about the songs on each albums.... Depth....

Det_Nosnip 08-26-2005 11:53 AM

Aye. For example, "The Funeral Portrait" was one of my favorite songs on BWP, mostly because it was the only song that didn't break into an acoustic section (I love those, don't get me wrong, but they don't have to do it EVERY time!), yet I hardly ever see it mentioned.

GOT the GUDS 112 08-26-2005 05:15 PM

Alrighty guys, I've finished the first half of that Opeth Medley, so I'm interested to hear what you have to say!

Here's my Soundclick:

I'd like to hear what Opeth fans specifically think about this, so please leave your comments either in this thread, or in the one I made in the Guitar Forum:

Massik Kretal 08-26-2005 05:46 PM

I couldnt help but download the Opeth album. But I'm gonna buy it anyway so it's okay.

Edit - Well I didn't really downlaod it. My brothers on the roadcrew so he lemme get it.

Darkness 08-26-2005 06:10 PM

I get it on the 30th... haven't downloaded or anything... reserved my copy today.

Hells Bells 08-26-2005 06:39 PM

Reserving a copy...heh, that sounds like a good idea. It'll be something to do before I go to work tomorrow.

Deth 08-26-2005 07:15 PM

I'm not reserving, I'm just going after school. I doubt Best Buy will sell out due to a mad rush for Opeth's latest.

Darkness 08-26-2005 07:35 PM

My cd store is only getting 5, and a few are already reserved, so I thought it was necissary.

Deth 08-26-2005 07:43 PM

Wow, I don't have any real music stores around me :-/.

Best Buy is the greatest though, as long as you're not looking for anything too hard to find.

Darkness 08-26-2005 08:03 PM

CD Plus (the place I go) is awesome, I get all my stuff there. Their even good for vinyls, except I couldn't find the new Lateralus vinyl there... :(

Deth 08-26-2005 08:06 PM

Does it cost much more than other places?

Darkness 08-26-2005 08:10 PM

No, not at all. They often have lots of great deals to. And the people that work there are awesome.

4130 08-26-2005 09:02 PM

I too have a reserved copy. The store already has the CDs out the back and I went down yesterday hopng they could sell me one before sunday, but no luck. **** bastards.

vashts80 08-26-2005 09:35 PM

hehehe, I'm pretty much a newbie in this thread, but question:

What tuning does Opeth use on Blackwater Park (the song)? I have a guitarpro for that song, but it's in drop D (DADGBE/DADG) and I was thinking to myself "the mighty Opeth cannot POSSIBLY be using nu-metal drop D!" (lolz, stereotyping is fun)...so yeah.

Darkness 08-26-2005 09:37 PM

Drop D is correct.

relliK 08-26-2005 09:55 PM

Drop C is nu-metal.Not D.STUPID!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with drop D... it's great when you want that evil sound (like in Demon of the Fall and BWP song)

Special Brew 08-26-2005 10:53 PM

It doesn't matter how you tune the guitar, it's how you play them
