See if there's an option to purge all unused tracks in the Media Pool (or whatever Cubase calls it). That might get rid of the unused tempo track.

Alternately, you could try finding out if the tempo track is saved as a separate file and moving that into the new location as well.

I mean...they're okay. I A/B'd with 650's, and without a quiet ass room it's actually quite hard to hear a biiiiig difference tonally (I mean for the extra money it should leap the fuck out at you). But balance wise the 650's raped, the 555's don't track very well in the stereo image.

I'm actually testing soon if I can do a full mix on them and just use my stereo for checking them.

It's fucking tricky lol.


Edit: Oh and do the mod on them. Basically you take out these two foam pads in between the driver and the outside that retard them to be a lower end headphone.

They basically sound like the 595's once you do that.

obviously, one should listen to their mix in as many different sound systems as possible (within reason) before being done with it

that said, i'm not always good at actually doing it :)

My set up is IMAC 27" with mbox mini 2 soundcard by digi design or Avid as they call it now.
I record everything under pro tools and use guitar rig for guitar tones, ampeg for bass tones and strike to program drums (in order for strike to work it's best to have a MIDI keyboard to run it mine is a M-Audio 49 keys)
I use monitors from yamaha HS80 pretty basic stuff but it works wonders !

It's always been Avid, Digidesign were just the Pro Tools division. They just decided to consolidate all their assets under the father company.
I'm praying that I manage to get some funding for a PhD after I've finished this MA. If I get some, I'll be getting some monitors and making some DIY acoustic treatment :)

Good (not me, yet lol) mixing engineers can work in poor rooms with poor speakers, if they know that room/monitor pair well. They can compensate.

it's about knowing what works best for you. Look at Joey Sturgis. but even with what he's using, he still uses a well treated room. Perception of sound makes all the difference in the realm of audio engineering. Good engineers CAN work with a familiar set of speakers, but if you're not hearing shit that you should be hearing how are you supposed to work with it?

Many great engineers know, say, a pair of headphones [I]so well[/I] that they can mix a record brilliantly on them. They won't be able to get the bottom two octaves because, obviously, the drivers in headphones are capable of producing them accurately. But if they know those headphones well, they'll be able to work with their system and they can effectively mix deaf. Beethoven was pretty mint at that :p

But all this is beside the point. Why make it difficult for yourself? Earn some money, treat your room and buy some £500+ monitors (you generally get what you pay for with monitors, imo. Although KRK Rokit8s are alright) with a cone of at least 8", job's a good un!

I said there are great engineers who can mix on headphones that they know well. As in, I've spoke to engineers who have engineered great sounding music, working mainly on headphones (because of certain limitations), but, of course, they checked their mixes back on as many different playback systems as possible to ensure their compensation was accurate.

If you deem great = success, then you'd be wrong. Greatness is as much kinetic as potential. So whilst I'm not gonna be like 'oh hey guys I spoke with Parsons/Visconti the other day, they only mix on cans now', I do know of engineers who might not be 'famous' but have produced some pretty awesome mixes; their greatness is still to bubble over the surface.

Finally, I'm an engineer (technically). Because of financial and 'spatial' limitations, I have mixed solely on headphones in the past (checking my mixes on other systems as I go). So I guess I fit your description :p

I thought, of them all, the first one was the best followed by the third, but only because the wet/dry balance was completely unmatched on all the others. So whilst it's not exactly a fair test, here's the matchups:

1: CSR reverb.
2: Lexicon PCM80 reverb.
3: Kurzweil KSP-8 reverb.
4: Universal Audio DreamVerb reverb.
5: Audio Ease Altiverb 5 reverb.
6: Waves Renaissance Reverb.

yeah it's kinda pointless when they all have different settings :P

i'm tellin you man, torrent them and find out which one you want to buy

The only engineer...well musician even...that I've heard get amazing results and I know mixed on headphones is Sufjan Stevens.

But he defies a lot of engineering laws because he simply is amazingly talented.

Aye I know, I was quite surprised that a music magazine/website would be that thoughtless. It seems like they just whacked the reverb on the channel without trying to get them to at least the same mix level.
And I told you man, I don't do that :p I'll just make do with the CSR suite for now, it's miles better than the native PT verbs. Although I've got TL Space as well which is quite good, especially if you download IRs for it. CPU-heavy though...

Nonetheless, this is true. UA stuff looks incredible but it's also incredibly expensive, generally speaking.
