Well after listening to Rosetta's "Galilean Satellites," I've come to the conclusion that I really like them, but they could have been so much better. Disc 1 is absolutely brilliant, but Disc 2 is way too much like drone-rock for me to like. 15 minute songs of reverb aren't exactly my cup of tea I guess. Suppose I'll just be sticking to the first disc. :)

bucket 11-25-2006 07:03 PM

If people in this thread get the Daily Upload, download Battle of Mice. It's really good.

It has a Red Sparowes member.

Not exactly post-rock though.

I like to listen to the second disc to unwind after the massive adventure of the first, but I see where you're coming from. Still, the first disc is brilliant enough to keep you satisfied anyway. :)

Downloading now. Sounds really good.

Oh, no doubt. The first disc is absolutely fantastic. I wonder how they sound when both discs are synced up like they apparently can be made to do.

And I uploaded that Battle of Mice! It's pretty good. Nice experimental stuff. And a veritable supergroup of sorts with the types of bands that the members have come from.

Kage 11-25-2006 10:30 PM

It sounds so awesome when the two discs are synced up.

Auberge le Mouton Noir 11-26-2006 10:35 AM
Any confirmed dates yet? I sure would love to see them when they come by near. Most Constellation artists that pass by my area these days only give shows more than 2 hours from where I live though. I've already missed A Silver Mt. Zion and Hrsta because of this...
I missed ASMZ because of exams :(

I think HRSTA are also planning another tour?

LF96 11-26-2006 01:56 PM

Hrsta is actually on tour right now, together with Carla Bozullich (or something). The show I was talking about was just a few days ago. I also discovered they played another show really close to where I live the day after the show, which sucks. If you live in Europe you might still be able to gee see them, don't know about America though.

Neoteric 11-26-2006 02:36 PM

How are Jaga Jazzist compared to other post-rock bands? They're probably the only main post-rock band I've not properly listened to.

Tyr 11-26-2006 02:47 PM

I'd say that Jaga Jazzist are experimental jazz or acid jazz. They are, however, awesome.

bwnstl 11-26-2006 05:36 PM

They are indeed really good. And they're not necessarily post-rock, although they do share MANY qualities of some post-rock bands.

Eliminator 11-26-2006 05:39 PM

What We Must is kind of boring.

a livingroom hush is way better

bwnstl 11-26-2006 05:56 PM

Hmmm, maybe I need to get that then, since I liked What We Must. :)

bucket 11-26-2006 06:02 PM

They aren't similar. What We Must is different from everything else they've done (and better).

But yeah, it's worth checking out.

niobium 11-26-2006 06:33 PM

What We Must is actually pretty boring. I can only listen and enjoy a random song every now and again. I haven't listened to it enough to seperate the different songs as different.

Spiritofmosa 11-28-2006 01:26 AM

whats do you guys think of explosions in the sky new song - welcome ghosts.? oh and check out www.myspace.com/iamdavidsparkle

Kage 12-03-2006 02:26 PM

That EITS is worse than I could ever imagine them being.

So gice I finally listened to some Samuel Jackson 5 and it pretty much sucked. So please tell me what is so great about them. I can name probably five hundred million post rock bands who are better.

bucket 12-03-2006 02:50 PM

Which album/songs did you listen to? Easily Misunderstood is quite good. Not completely awesome I will stab your children awesome, but good.

Skinflick Dress Rehearsal and Person Most Likely to Enjoy the Taste of Human Flesh are great songs.

I remember I said their bass reminds me of KC at times and in Skinflick, there is a big booming bass resolution that sounds very Reddish.

Kage 12-03-2006 02:54 PM

I listened to a song that was called something about a cow and milk.

Eliminator 12-03-2006 02:56 PM

EITS are obviously the most diverse post-rock band in existence.

Kage 12-03-2006 03:01 PM

Very true.

Traversing 12-03-2006 03:28 PM
That EITS is worse than I could ever imagine them being.
Oh, give me a break. It's not terrible, it's just generic for EITS. Wait for the album, then you can bash all you want if you deem it appropriate.

Kage 12-03-2006 03:29 PM

I damn well deem it appropriate to bash. That song is the worst drivel they've put out amongst a whole catalogue of drivel.

A band that is similar but much much better is Because of Ghosts.

EITS is coming to Houston in March, I will see that show and then decide if I like them. I have a feeling that seeing them live will definitely bump them up for me.

LF96 12-03-2006 03:34 PM
I listened to a song that was called something about a cow and milk.
Yeah, that's the only one I found without going into illegal searching and all (it's available on their myspace I think). I really like it though, especially the addition of upright bass is really cool. Makes me want to check out more by them. I actually just found more, check out the media section at: http://www.sj5.no/

It WILL bump them up for you. EITS's live show is top notch :thumb:

Kage 12-03-2006 04:03 PM

I'm looking forward to it. Tickets are only $10. =D

I've got a plethora of new post rock bands I've downloaded. Johnny Poindexter is impressing me right now.

bucket 12-04-2006 04:18 AM

lol johnny poindexter. I always assumed they were terrible because their album is available to download legally, for free, on some net label.

Is anyone here familiar with Halifax Pier? Red Sparowes bass/pedal steel player is in the band. But don't be fooled, the bands share no resemblance. HP is extremely acoustic/folky with vocals. According to last.fm... they are post-rock too... and last.fm never lies.

http://www.temporaryresidence.com/bands/halifaxpier.php

You can hear a song there. If people like it I can upload one of their albums. They have some really nice instrumental pieces as well.

Now orgasming over: Gregor Samsa- 55:12 (album)

Traversing 12-04-2006 11:01 AM

<--is really digging this Halifax Pier song

Txus 12-04-2006 11:02 AM

Wow, this Halifax Pier is really damn good.

bucket 12-04-2006 11:09 AM

It looks like I'll be uploading HP.

Really they are post-rock I guess. Their use of so many instruments playing intertwining melodies is pretty much what every post-rock band does... they just constantly use acoustic instruments, strings, and vocals.

I'll chuck both of their albums into one file and upload it today.

And Kage, listen to SKINFLICK DRESS REHEARSAL!!!!

Txus 12-04-2006 11:11 AM

Great man. Thanks a lot :)

Send it my way when It's done.

How can you hate Samuel Jackson Five? Easily Misunderstood is such a great album.

Txus 12-04-2006 11:15 AM

Samuel Jackson Five are really good, nowhere near the best Post Rock bands out there...but they are good in what they do.

Traversing 12-04-2006 11:32 AM

Hit me up with some HP as well

I'd say it will be out in a couple hours.

S/t album and Put on Your Gloves and Wave

EDIT:

Sent. S/t is the better album. Untitled and Strange News from Another Star are my favorite songs.

bwnstl 12-05-2006 02:48 AM

Is it just me or was that file corrupt?

Kage 12-05-2006 02:49 AM

Not just you. The file is no good.
