Can someone recommend me some like sad/depressing (not like emo) songs? Other than Opeth.

3rdplanet 02-07-2005 04:04 PM

You could try ISIS ^ Panopticon has some quite sad sounding songs, that's the best I can think of right now.

Can someone recommend me some Faith No More? Similar to their Song Evidence, because it officially is amazing.

Bartender 02-07-2005 04:04 PM

Which album is Song Evidence from?

Just because I haven't heard it, so knowing which album it's from will help me give recommendations from other albums.

Bartender 02-08-2005 12:33 PM

You're welcome.

Can someone recomend me some great virtually unknown thrash metal?
I'm pretty familiar with the main five thrash bands:
Metalica, Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera, Anthrax etc.
And I sorta like Exodus, I'm looking for about three songs, preferably from three different bands, which sort of encompass all these styles.

Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Tyler 02-08-2005 01:30 PM

I've got quite a hefty favour to ask. Could anyone recommend me any band that is heavily blues influenced, without actually being blues? I have to present a media presentation on the blues, and I could use as many artists as possible. It can be in any genre, really. I just need some blues influenced music to show how much of an impact the blues had and still have on music.

3rdplanet 02-08-2005 01:34 PM

^ You could try Orange Goblin, but I'm not too sure it's bluesy, sorry, that's the best I can do. Oh! Gov't Mule? are they bluesy sounding?

Dark Angel, Kreator, and Testament, perhaps.

I need eastern asian folk music. Really.

Tyler 02-08-2005 01:40 PM

Ah, yes, thanks, I totally forgot about Gov't Mule. If anyone else still knows anything please don't hesitate, even if the influence is slight. I'd be willing to hear anything, from hip hop with a blues influence to hair metal to whatever you can dish out.

Bartender 02-08-2005 01:44 PM

A good example of a (currently) easily recognisable blues influenced rock band, whether you like them or not, is The White Stripes. It's not so evident on White Blood Cells, but De Stijl (what I've heard of it anyway, and according to reviews) was more bluesy. I suspect you probably had them down already though, so I'm sorry I can't help more.

I think Robert Plant's solo stuff is eastern folk.
