Wasn't Sixpounder in drop C? It kinda sounds like it...

FTR owns EVERYTHING that Bodom did...that is their highest point.
I think that was the only song on HCDR that was in drop C. And yes, FTr is Bodoms best album.

Yeah, that was drop C. I play that song. I completely agree about Follow the Reaper. It was the first Bodom album that I bought, and I was hooked after that. My favorite song off there has to be Children of Decadence.

Angel's Don't Kill was also in drop C.

Agreed.

IheartSP 06-26-2005 11:14 AM

I like Hatebreeder more than FTR and Something Wild is good in it's own way, but not as good as the other 2.

Shadows 06-26-2005 11:21 AM

FtR is the best - but the dark, atmospheric feel of Something Wild is incredible. I would put it on the same level as FtR. Classic Bodom...which we may never see again. They seemed to have changed their style right after debuting. Keyboards are now used for melody instead of atmosphere. That's too bad, because I'd love to have more tracks like Deadnight Warrior or In the Shadows.

Scoot 06-26-2005 12:06 PM

I just listened to three new Bodom tracks and I've got to say I didn't like them as much as the older Bodom. It seems that Alexi has lost some of his songwriting talent while dealing with that injury (don't ask me how that happened).

Tracks off "Are You Dead Yet"?

Shattered_Future 06-26-2005 12:59 PM

I don't like newer Bodom as much...it isn't as melodic, and chock full of great solos. It seems as if they dropped the melodicness for a more brutal heaviness...

Sixpounder has a solo thats melodic as hell. Alexi said that on Hate Crew he was trying to make his rhythm writing better so that explains a bit.

Yea, but if you compare, say, Sixpounder and Children Of Decadence, it sounds completely different. One's got the melodic edge, the other the heaviness.

Squirrel 06-26-2005 01:09 PM

Some misuse of the terms melodic, brutal and heavy here ..

Yeah, I know what you mean. From best to worst I'd arrange the albums like this:

Hatebreeder
Hate Crew Deathroll
Follow the Reaper
Something Wild

Where?! Post the links!!

Kreator2112 06-26-2005 07:44 PM

wow bodom is so played out now of days...it isnt worthy of mention anymore, the songs are repetitive and dull, its one boring synth intro and verse after another.

Norther>>>>bodom

What!? HCDR and TL&S before Something Wild? Man, I'm starting to think I'm the only one who likes Something Wild.

And if there are three new tracks available and someone doesn't post the link I'll be pissed.

Norther = Bodom ripoff

They're a good band, but too close to Bodom's style to merit much. I'm also offended that you would call Bodom "played out". Someone please listen to the title track from TL&S and then tell me they suck now.

I love Norther but their songs are alot more alike than CoB's (and the reason you don't like CoB is because they are repetitive?)

I hate the production/tone on Something Wild otherwise it would be in the top 2.

Kreator2112 06-26-2005 07:47 PM

norther arent repetitive..for the most part, atleast its not all synth crap (ie: angels dont kill). frozen sky and beneath kill everything cob has ever put out.

To me, the Something Wild production was what made old Bodom special. SW had a raw, darker and more atmospheric feel. It was like incredible black/power metal. But I guess I'm the only one. Oh well, shit happens...

Their riffs are alot more alike, power/root 3rd/root 4th cord, mute, chord stab. Almost every song has a riff based off that formula.

I agree that Norther aren't repetitive. I actually like them quite a bit. But the thing that always got me about them was that they used WAY too much synth...which is funny, because you're saying you like them for using less synth then Bodom.

Everybody go over to the top 100 metal bassists competition and vote for Henkka NOW.

I love Norther but if you know how to play all their songs on guitar you'll sart to see the similarities all of them have.

Kreator2112 06-26-2005 07:53 PM

power metal is gay anyways, death to all false metal

Dismissing an entire genre? For shame...

Go listen to some Nightwish and tell me they aren't good.

And I don't like Norther as much...too much synths. Decent band, but Bodom is better.

well yes, because i can do that ;d, hammerfall - glory to the brave = very unhetero

by the way, stefan fimmers>henkka blacksmith

I agree.

(Henkkas band is better than Stefans though but not by much.)

Shadows 06-26-2005 08:08 PM
power metal is gay anyways, death to all false metal
I hate you. Power metal is one of the only pure metal genres left. Especially now that every other death metal band has started using breakdowns and black metal produced Satyricon - Volcano. Keep in mind that power metal was the genre that gave birth to metal.

but I agree that Stefan Fimmers > Henkka. Both are excellent bands. Necrophagist is proabably the best death metal out right now.

So thrash is real metal whilst power is not?

Kreator2112 06-26-2005 08:11 PM

how did power metal 'give birth' to metal? this is highly arguable mind you

Silenius 06-26-2005 08:12 PM
Wrong. %100
Nightwish is the shit of Power Metal.

/I know that must of you guys like 'em but I hate them.

Shadows 06-26-2005 08:12 PM
how did power metal 'give birth' to metal? this is highly arguable mind you
I suppose it is...the first metal bands (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, excluding Sabbath) were basically early power metal. But like you said this is all arguable.

flamesofbodom 06-26-2005 08:12 PM

Dont matter. Power metal is just as good. Only difference is vocals. Everything else is still amazing composed music.

To the above: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Iced Earth, etc. are pretty much the foundation for power metal and i love those bands to death. Some are also the basis for melodic metal

Kreator2112 06-26-2005 08:15 PM

im gonna say black sabbath (doom) was among the very first, (1966)
