Catch 22 ?
|
June 15th...
Was your show canceled like ours? I was so ready to go, when all of a sudden I got a phone call from the booking agent from the venue telling me to tell eveyone I knew that it was canceled... Arghh!!! I really like their music, favorite song is Point/Counterpoint. Though I don't have high expectations for Keasbey Nights II because I think that the Catch 22 version could not be improved upon. And if it can be, not very humanly possible. I did go to the Slackers on saturday though... the best sounding live band I have ever heard in my life. That is ranging from metal, to ska, to jazz, and to classical. Best Ever...
Not to my knowledge. I'ld be PISSED if it was. I've been looking forward to tonight for a while. |
im seeing streetlight manifesto with whole wheat bread and some other band here in chicago on the 12.
p.s.does paisly still post out here? EDIT: found him, nevermind |

How so, this is our fourth official thread. They have 20, Pop-punk has three, Alt & Indie have a couple. It needs to be done when there is always threads on a band. And its not like ours get constantly bumped like R&M. There is still thousands of bands out there to make threads about. |
i just saw streetlight manifesto. it made life worthwhile.
every song flowed into eachother perfectly. oh man, and they put keasby nights in the middle of point counterpoint as like an extended bridge. it was really weird but sounded fricking awesome. he did the same thing in failing flailing with 9mm and a 3 piece suite. best concert ive ever been to |
I knew they did Point/Keasby Nights/Counterpoint, didnt know about Failing Flailing/9 mm and a Three Piece Suit, that sounds pretty awesome. Still kicking myself for not being able to go to SID2 to see.
|
Man, that show kicked ***.
|
Are their any livevideos with streetlight on the internet besides the one on punkrockvids?

The ended with Dear Sergio when I saw them. They dident even play 9.MM. |
I relistened to their album today and I was wrong when I said they were overrated.
They're vastly overrated. |

They're vastly overrated.
You're overrated. I've heard that Thomas may do a 1 man tour with Dan Potthast of MU330 and Sean P. Rogan of Big D and the Kids Table. Anyone heard anything about that? |
You're overrated.
What an intelligent response. |
Probably they're overrated... I still love them more than any other 3rd wave band, except Catch22 which are more or less in the same grade of awesomeness.
|
What an intelligent response.
It matched yours. I had the same number of reasons as you did, and I even read your post twice before I called you over rated, just to go against the trend. You and me, we're a lot alike in that sense. |
I only go against the trend when the trend isn't very good. Streetlight Manifesto are a decent band. Technically gifted with a few good songs but I could name ten better ska-punk bands off the top of my head. They sound like a band that would be great live but on the album they just don't cut it. It sounds like a mess of fast, technically skillful (but not particularly enjoyable) musicianship, standard lyrics with a few nice turns of phrase and over-enthusiastic shouting. They're also one of the least ska ska-punk bands around.

Those are the things I agree with. |
Streetlight is a great band- yes overrated but great nonetheless, and they are even better live, I'd say the only other skapunk band's live performance that matches theirs is Big D's.
|
Big D are hit and miss live. The were amazing at Warped 2 years ago and not very good opening for Mustard Plug in pittsburg a few months before that.
The Suicide Machines on the other hand, are probably the best live band you will ever see. They and The Living End are the only bands that I have ever seen where paying ~30 for a ticket was worth a short set (warped for Suicide Machines and TLE opened for The Vines/Jet) |
i saw suicide machines two years ago at warped as well. they split the crowd in two and just had us charge at eachother.
|
i saw streetlight last night...they were awesome as exspected
i was talking to one of the horn players after the show and he confirmed that the keasbey nights 2 thing is true...apparentely they think itll be out around decemberish |
wait is it catch or streetlgiht that is supposed to be putting that out?
|

So he had a typo on expected, didn't capitalize or use proper punctuation. Big motha fuckin' deal yo!

streetlight |
well. thats a little better than having catch do it. streetlight at least has some original members.
|
They're supposedly remaking alll the songs, or at least thats what I heard, but it's still in the making so nothings final
|
I posted the news a page back. Highlights of it
It will not have a number in the name (so no Keasby Nights 2) It will have no new songs. So they will probably be taking songs from Keasby era Catch, old SLM, and BOTAR stuff (hopefully Here's to Life) I hope they announce more soon. |

I've told them there won't be another KN2 multiple times. They keep posting it and spreading the false rumor though. |

Albany the 17th... I wish I could get out there. Too bad I didn't get my permit as soon as I turned 16, otherwise I could. Bummer.
|
Go, I'll be there!

im seeing them on wednesday

playing show with Streetlight Manifesto
Hi guys, Yesterday way the time of my life! me and my band played with Streetlight Manifesto in Montreal, it was totally amazing, we had the buffet before the show, the beer etc ... all this for free hehe! we play the first part with a jam pack room ... like 300 ppl maybe 350 . After our set i talk to the drummer and ask him if he wanna smoke a joint but he refused cause he smoked like 5 before i ask him hehehe.
When they start playing it was totaly amazing, the first song was A moment of violence followed by moment of silence, ? , ? , that ill be the day, failling flailing, everthyng went numb, after that i go back stage cause oh my god it was a goddam oven over there lol! in conclusion, they are great in show, they look shy with other band lol but there still very nice with them! |
I can tell your french..
|
^^haha...yeah, but it doesn't take away from the hipness of your story......
|
