hey all im pretty new to the whole industrial genre, anything you can recommend? ive been into nails and kmfdm for years and listened to some of the usual bands like ministry, godflesh, skinny puppy etc.. i got some angelspit the other day, i quite liked them although maybe a little too 'dancy' on their second album... anyways, any recomendations?

oh yea also have any of you heard of abney park? more sort of electronic gothicy with violins (yup i am the genre defining master!) than industrial.. but its all steampunk themed, its really surreal but seems to work well... but yea noone seems to have heard of them, check them out if you fancy something a bit different

Alex: I have a NON album up in my blog with a good bitrate, if you'd like that.

FatalEnergy 08-03-2009 02:29 PM

I would.

To keep on the industrial-metal/coldwave side of things I would suggest to check out some Numb (Wasted Sky, Blood Meridian), Acumen Nation (Psycho The Rapist) and Flesh Field (Strain). Also you could try Pigface's Gub which is a collaboration between just about any artist who was important in the early 90's industrial scene. Its hit or miss but worth a look. Otherwise there are tonne of other industrial I could recommend but you might not be that keen on just yet ;)

I like that album, especially the song The Fountain of Fortune.

Meatplow 08-06-2009 02:28 AM

Die Krupps is really good, though i'm probably venturing more into synthpop territory with a lot of these albums I am listening to (thats not a bad thing though).

I need more.

BleepBoop 08-08-2009 02:44 AM

Listening to Skinny Puppy's Too Dark Park for the first time presently.

I never could get into this band but I'm starting to dig it now.

Meatplow 08-08-2009 05:06 AM

Yeah i've always struggled with Skinny Puppy, the gothic overtones have always put me off and the vocals seem to have no interesting character to me. Too Dark Park, Last Rites, Rabies and The Process are all good albums, but I tend to only get hooked on select arrangements that catch my interest whilst whole songs and albums are a little overbearing.

I remember hearing 2:59 when I was stoned once. It blew my mind, now it just seems kind of dull. Still one of my favourite Skinny Puppy parts though.

BleepBoop 08-08-2009 05:14 AM

Pretty much everything you just said.

Everybody Sieg Heil this album please:

http://industrialskads.blogspot.com/2008/06/phragments-homo-homini-lvpvs-2006.html

The track Pangaean Hymn is mind-blowingly epic

Meatplow 08-09-2009 06:58 AM

looks good, i'll check that one out

I guess we can discuss general electronic music and ambient in here, Saito Koji's Beautiful is insanely good.

A good segue for me to plug Yellow Magic Orchestra

Funker Vogt - History

Schlechtwetterfront's videos are so great

Maximum strength misanthropy

Can anyone figure out who those soldiers at the end are?

I think they're Iraqis because they're dressed in NBC suits and riding on horseback

RouteOne 08-10-2009 12:19 AM

They're using SKS's and AK's, so I'd say so.

1338 h4x0r 08-10-2009 12:21 AM

What do other Middle Eastern countries use that's different?

idk maybe they have M-16's in Saudi Arabia or Kuwait?

Meatplow 08-10-2009 12:29 AM

Eric Zann's Ouroborindra is great. I need more Ghost Box stuff, I only have this and Belbury Poly's Farmers Angle which isn't quite as good but I still like (its far too short, really).

this song speaks to me so much
Being like you are
Well this is something else, who would comprehend?
But some that do, lay claim that
Divine purpose blesses them
That's not what I believe, it doesn't matter anyway
A part of your soul ties you to the next world
Or maybe to the last, I'm still not sure
What I do know is, to us the world is different
As we are to the world but, I guess you would know that
Niflheim II 08-10-2009 01:51 PM

wow dude thats serious some deep and esoteric writing there, thats for sure.
