I'll be 16 next year. But I won't be able to drive
Did you end up reading anymore of the series after Ender's Game? I read the whole series minus Shadow of the Giant this summer and I think Ender's Game wasn't even my favorite so if not I suggest reading the rest of em too.

Hello new thread.
Nope, haven't read them yet. Planning to soon, though, once I have things to buy them with and am running out of books to read.

Deth 08-11-2007 12:05 PM

I've read two of the sequels to Ender's Game and whichever one was from Bean's point of view. All good reads, but not as good as the original.

In other news, I head up to University on Friday.

haha that sucks. I'll be 16 this year and I will be able to drive

LifeInABox 08-11-2007 12:23 PM

Yeah, drivers ed is like massivly expensive and you can't drive until you're 18 without taking it, so either way, we get ****ed by the state.

Lunch 08-11-2007 12:23 PM

lol not being able to drive

Eliminator 08-11-2007 12:23 PM

uh thats how it is in every state

Nostalgia 08-11-2007 12:24 PM

Driving's fun for like two weeks and then you hate it.

Lunch 08-11-2007 12:24 PM

yea but you can still DRIVE

LifeInABox 08-11-2007 12:25 PM
uh thats how it is in every state
No, it doesn't start until September 1st. So if you aren't 16 and a half by Sept. 1, you have to wait until you're 18 or blow over a k on drivers ed.

Deth 08-11-2007 12:25 PM

Yeah, I'm 18 and avoid driving whenever I can. It's really a pain.

Eliminator 08-11-2007 12:26 PM

Jom 08-11-2007 12:30 PM

Man, I love driving. I could sit bitch on roadtrips for all I care so long as I have either a) good company or b) music that doesn't suck. This is why I always abhorred driving Psycho Girl back home because even though I was the driver (and therefore, by my rules, pulled rank with the tunes), she always insisted on listening to shit like Bright Eyes. I can't stand Oberest when I'm not driving, so why the hell would I want to listen to that airy, wispy, lacking-pulse musician while I'm driving on the expressway?

But I like driving more than being the passenger. I'd probably like it more if I didn't drive a station wagon, but you know, that ol' car has been through a lot, and I'm glad it hasn't decided to crap out on me, especially since I gave her a new battery a couple years ago.

Lunch 08-11-2007 12:31 PM

I don't mind driving either. I did just drive across the country though

Glitterati 08-11-2007 12:43 PM
so you're 17

Oh good. If you remember, tell me what you think after you do haha.

I liked the books about Bean better but I think that's because I relate to his character a lot more than I do Ender. Ender is too good natured for me :p

The sequels to Ender were a different style from the original too more or less but I liked that style a lot. Reminded me of Dune in the way that Card develops his society and all aspects of life beyond just the characters.

Deth 08-11-2007 02:33 PM

I started Dune a while back but I haven't really gotten far. I've had no drive to read this summer.

Permanent Solution 08-11-2007 02:36 PM

I read about 20 books this summer I think, average of over 1 per week iirc. I miss reading for fun at school.

Dune is a really fantastic book I suggest reading it. Like the LOTR series it starts slwo ut once you're in his universe it moves quick and is a great read.
