Personally, if you want variety and more accessibility, I'd say Miss Machine. If you want the one that made them who they are, I'd say Calculating Infinity. They only have two cds, unless you count the Under The Running Board EP and The Irony Is A Dead Scene EP, so you really can't go wrong with whatevery you choose.

Permanent Solution 01-28-2005 09:59 AM

Recommend me some metal, any style, that I can branch into from a start of:

Metallica
Slayer
Pantera
COB
In Flames
Dimmu Borgir
Manowar
Iron Maiden
Arch Enemy
Blind Guardian
Dragonforce
Iced Earth
(Metalcore: A7x, KSE, Unearth, LOG)

Thanks.

CaptainWaits 01-28-2005 10:07 AM

Metallica = Megadeth
Slayer = Overkill, Exodus, Dark Angel, Sepultura
Pantera + COC = Crowbar, Down
In Flames + Arch Enemy = Soilwork, Dark Tranquility
Dimmu Borgir = Cradle of Filth, Amorphis (old stuff)
Manowar + Iron Maiden = Hammerfall, Helloween
Blind Guardian + Dragon Force + Iced Earth = Rhapsody, Evergrey, Symphony X, Angra, Sonata Arctica, Primal Fear
Metalcore = I couldn't give you a thing

Dancin' Man 01-28-2005 10:11 AM

Metalcore - Between the Buried and me (More like technical death metal with emo sections but it's close and good), Converge (again, this is hardcore I think but very good and close), Dillinger Escape Plan (Progressive hardcore grindcore)

Sorry that's as well as I can do. I don't like most Metalcore but this stuff is all somewhat close and very good.

gahkanpalz 01-28-2005 11:36 AM

?

I'm looking for something similar to groups like Godspeed You! Black Emperor (A Silver mt Zion, Do Say Make Think, Explosions in the Sky) but with slightly less abstract song structure. Sigur Ros is the closest I've found on my own.

CaptainWaits 01-28-2005 11:45 AM

I'm gonna go Cd shopping here in about an hour or two, so what should I buy??

Just give me some of your favorite albums of all time, I don't care what style it is

Distant Echoes 01-28-2005 11:49 AM

Rush-Moving Pictures
LedZep IV
The Who-Quadrophenia (you will love this album)
Deep Purple-Machine Head

By the way, you people's definition of metalcore is quite interesting but false.
By the way, you people's definition of metalcore is quite interesting but false.
We didn't define it. I recommended bands I thought he would like, clearly stating that they were not metalcore.

Permanent Solution 01-28-2005 12:50 PM

Plus, it need not be metalcore, I am just stating that I like those bands but I know they aren't metal. Thanks for all the suggestions, anymore?
