What are your guys 5 favorite reggae/dub albums? When I was making my list, I realized that it's harder than I thought it would be. In the end, this is what I came up with:

The Congos - Heart of the Congos
Scientist - Scientist Rids the World of the Curse of the Evil Vampire
Big Youth - Screaming Target
Prince Jazzbo - Ital Corner
Augustus Pablo - King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown

...that is really hard, but probably (no order)

bad brains - i and i survive (dub)
the meditations - guidance
burning spear - dry and heavy
misty in roots - live at the counter eurovision
lee perry - super ape

these are really up there too:
Black Uhuru - chill out
steel pulse - handsworth revolution
prince jazzbo - ital corner

Daniel! 12-28-2005 05:04 PM

You should put that Misty In Roots cd in the next mailing list. I've heard about them, but have never listened to them.

Happy New Years everyone!!!

TO TERRY THORNE: i just added you to the mailing list, and sent you the latest mailing list, which i sent out yesterday

TO ONENATIONUNDERAGROOVE: iam not really a fan of dancehall...at all actually. But capleton has a sweet voice, and he does some stuff with Dub Syndicate that amazing. You should check him out. Not a big fan of him music, but great voice i find

TerryThorne 01-01-2006 01:24 AM

Thanks for the add! I'm really digging the Bunny Wailer album at the moment.

xxGumbyxx 01-01-2006 06:24 PM

[QUOTE=Daniel!]What are your guys 5 favorite reggae/dub albums? When I was making my list, I realized that it's harder than I thought it would be...

Jeez, too hard, man.

The Congos- Heart Of The Congos
Jimmy Cliff- The Harder They Come
Bunny Wailer- Blackheart Man
Augustus Pablo- King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown
Bob Marley and The Wailers- Survival

This week's mailing list was impeccable. Those are some of my favorite albums. I haven't ever listened to the Misty Roots record, I'm super-excited because those others are so great. Brilliant work, guys. Can anyone hook a brother up with some Matisyahu? By the time I got to his link on the mailing list it had expired, and I have no money left to get his CDs. I just got a ticket to see him in February, though, which should be awesome.

To the guy who needed Dancehall, the closest I have to that is the new Damian Marley, some Sizzla, and Dennis Brown, which has a little of a dancehall feel. My screen name is arsonmadeeasy if anyone wants me to send you any of that on AIM.

Daniel! 01-02-2006 05:01 PM

Can any of you guys give me the tracklisting for the live Misty In Roots album? The link on the mailing list didn't work for me, so I downloaded it off of soulseek, but don't know the track names or order. Also, I listened to the Meditations album again, and I like it a lot more than last time.

Pirate Satellite 01-02-2006 05:22 PM

1. Introduction
2. Man Kind
3. Ghetto Of The City
4. How Long Jah!
5. Oh! Wicked Man!
6. Judas Iscariote
7. See Them Ah Come
8. Sodome & Gomorra

I need to check out the Meditations. I think that was on one of the mailing lists that went out when I was in Argentina and expired before I could check them.
