FBTMOF is awesome live.

Except when I saw them, they cut their set short because a cable snapped, or something, and they couldn't replace it. :(

CommieCanada 02-04-2006 12:33 AM
That sounds awesome.

Fear Before are great live I bet.
yes it was

and yes they are. the entire place was a huge pit and all the club lights were out and there were only strobe stage lights on.

it was like a horror movie, but with fists and ninja kicks right in your face that weren' t there a second ago

I'd say Poison the Well and Thursday top my list as well.

cbmartinez 02-04-2006 02:18 PM

Poison The Well is touring with The Fall Of Troy. Sucks that I have to sit through TFOT but it will be worth it.

Mute Print 02-04-2006 02:33 PM

That tour isn't coming here. :(

But I'm seeing The Fall of Troy for the thrid time in a couple weeks.

poprocks&coke 02-05-2006 04:09 PM

I saw TBS the other week, and they played pretty good. Adam even jumped up hung upside down from the balcony and carried on singing. Pretty sweet.

Did he keep swinging his mic around his neck when you saw them? I swear he did that more then sung when i did.

Damone
I'd never heard of this band before, but they were pretty good. They reminded me a bit of Paramore, as the vocalist sounded similar to Haley. There isn't a lot to say about them, really, but they alright.

Rock 'n' Roll Soldiers
These guys were surprisingly good. They had a lot of energy, and put on a really good show. Toward the end of the set, the lead singer took the bass drum, and threw it off to the side, and then began knocking over other pieces of the drumset. It was quite amusing.

A Wilhelm Scream
These guys were amazing, as usual. Unfortunately, they're bassist (Curtiss) left the band just before the show, so one of the guitarists had to take his spot. Even without two guitars, their set was amazing, though. They had a ton of energy, and really got the crowd moving. So awesome.

Less Than Jake
Fucking incredible. They put on seriously one of the best shows I've ever been too. The crowd was going crazy the whole time. I spent some time in the circle pit, which was awesome, and then spent the rest jumping around up front near the stage.

About halfway through their set, the lead singer pointed out some guy in the back, who he said looked like Phil Donahue. He then told the guy to go up on the stage and have a beer with the band. When "the guy" got on stage, I realized it was my dad!

The lead singer then proceded to ask [ I ] was. He then told me that I had an awesome dad, because his dad wouldn't have "taken [him] to see [him] when [he] was younger."

After he was done talking, the lead singer let my dad stay on the stage while they played the next song. My dad then got to shake hands with the bassist and lead singer, before leasving the stage. It was so cool.

I now have the beer bottle that was given to my dad sitting in my room.

Anyway, Less Than Jake finished out their set with a series of awesome songs, both old and new. They were incredible. The only disappointment was that they didn't play "Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sell Outs."

Overall, the whole show was awesome. Less Than Jake is truly one of the most fun live bands ever. :D :D :D :D

DepthsOfDreams555 02-07-2006 03:20 PM

That is so amazing Brian that is good luck man haha.

Gnarmageddon 02-07-2006 03:24 PM

Hahaha, that's so cool, Brian.

B 02-07-2006 03:30 PM

Yo man that's sweet.

I only met one band once. Well two, one was local though.

Gnarmageddon 02-07-2006 03:32 PM

So what did your dad say to you after the concert, Brian?

Mute Print 02-07-2006 03:35 PM

Haha, nothing really.

He found it kind of funny that out of all the people in the place, they managed to spot him all the way at the back. On our way out a couple guys came up to him and shook his hand too.

Gnarmageddon 02-07-2006 03:36 PM

Just another day in the life of Brian's dad.

Mute Print 02-07-2006 03:37 PM

Hahaha.

We're off to another show tonight. :p

Pazz 02-07-2006 03:45 PM

Brian, that's the coolest thing I've ever heard of!

Mute Print 02-08-2006 02:55 PM

The Queers
So last night I had the opportunity to see the legendary Queers. It turned out to be a great show. They played song after song without stoping. They played a good 50 songs over the course of and hour and fifteen minutes. Although I only knew about one-third of the songs they played, it was still an awesome time.

Just as a side note, about 10 kids came up to my dad last night because they recognized him from Less Than Jake.
