Same here, most of the time. I've only been REALLY playing for 2 years (maybe), so I don't think I suck so bad
Same here. How are you practicing and for how long a day? |
I practice what my teacher gives me; note reading stuff. Then I play everything I know. A couple scales, Sixpounder, Fade to Black, etc. Then I start working on something new. I have the Young Guitar Extra of Alexi Laiho that teaches you how to play a lot of stuff from Hate Crew Deathroll, so I try to do that. Keyword: try. lol
|
Maybe I do. Don't double post.
Sweet! Reupload your avatar, the server is new.
Thanks :thumb: It usually gets the crowd goin yeah! |
Not to shabby. Where did you get that DVD?
Also have you tried any Satch, Jeff Beck, or anything like that? |
Thanks :thumb:
It usually gets the crowd goin yeah!
No problem. I'm sure it does! :thumb:
Not to shabby. Where did you get that DVD? I bought it off of Ebay because when I tried to buy it off the Young Guitar Extra site, nothing happened. Don't do that. lol. I waited 4 months before I bought it off of Ebay. I haven't tried any of those, no. |
Those kind of songs, pretty much instrumental stuff, really improve playing.
If you want ill give you a short list of songs you could learn then you could like go to parties and play some kickass stuff. |
lmfao. Thanks, that would be awesome.
|
Can anyone please explain to me why Alexi is so highly regarded as a guitarist ?
|
Maybe because of his training, how he plays and how they do live shows. That and he's a good inspiration for aspiring guitarists.
at least in my opinion. |
Can anyone please explain to me why Alexi is so highly regarded as a guitarist ?
he has some good runs, slighty technical.. i just hate how he talks sh!t on JP, cause we all know he could pwn his arse :thumb: |
What training ?
He plays sloppily and uninspired .. I saw them live and didnt notice anything special at all I still dont get it. |
If you don't like him, then anything I say to you would be disregarded. I like Alexi's guitar playing because he was the first person that really stood out when I started listening to that kind of music. I in turn looked at his stuff (tabs or whatever) and really liked how it was written. I've seen them live and I find it impressive.
|
i guess it all depends on who ya compare him to. Hes the only reason i listen to CoB
|
I know that, be he's made out to be some demigod around here, yet i see nothing great about any members of this band, and their sound is in no way original at all.
I respect your opinion and i can accept your views, though. |

Me included. And Thanks. Thats what counts. :) |

He practiced Steve Vai when he was little. Thats hard to do. He works his *** off so it doesnt matter to play perfectly all the time. They came out with an amazing cd when he was like 18; impressive?
lmfao. Thanks, that would be awesome.
Alright try these out: Joe Satriani - Always With Me Always With You, Love Thing, Satch Boogie Steve Vai - For The Love of God Jeff Beck - People Get Ready Yngwie Malmsteen - Black Star (WARNING on this one) |
If you like the classicaly tinged soloing, you should check out Jason Becker, he was an absolute monster of the guitar.
He practiced Steve Vai when he was little. Thats hard to do. He works his *** off so it doesnt matter to play perfectly all the time. Get it?
How the hell does practising Steve Vai count as training at all ? I practise things much harder than Vai, i fail badly, yet i still practise them - does that make me a guitar god ? no. No, i dont get it, he's not a great guitarist. |
Thats kinda what I was talking about. He's had classical and jazz training ever since he was little. In Finland kids are required to take music education through high school. He also attended a top music school. And then theres the whole having an album out when he's 18 thing. :)
Alright try these out: Joe Satriani - Always With Me Always With You, Love Thing, Satch Boogie Steve Vai - For The Love of God Jeff Beck - People Get Ready Yngwie Malmsteen - Black Star (WARNING on this one)
I own the Joe Satriani album Is There Love In Space? ....are they on there? I will try check out those other songs. Any chance of some uploads? |
Alexi is regarded as a good guitarist, simply because that's what he is: good. You can't deny the talent in him...he can play circles around other guitarists.
|
