It's sad but true, really. Daron tries to do too much.
I can't believe I missed it. That's hillarious.
Sad but true, eh?

Element of LED 435 05-28-2005 11:12 AM

i have toxicity and mezmerize....... now mezmerize has ALOT of good songs but like b4 said they don't fit on the same cd which is good for some people, it gives u a bit of everything

Toxicity has some good songs which are good and some jus bore me like "X" and "Jet Pilot" but its an album with more meaningful lyrics then Mezmerize and is a lot harder than it

I have every one of there albums they are one of my favorite bands...i agree w/ u on some parts of what you said...like mezmerize has a little bit of everything and isnt as hard and has a lot of good song...BUT...IMO i think everyone of there albums has a lot of good songs and some that bore you, it just deoends on the person and what you like because alot of people dont like STA...but i like it...it just depends

Well, yeah, it is. Daron sings a whole lot more than he used to and if I am not mistaken he recorded a lot of bass on this album too. The only person he hasn't bothered yet is John. Besides, Serj's voice destroys Daron's.

azbassman 05-28-2005 04:06 PM

I like darons voice...but thats it...serj just has on of the most versitile voices he can go high and he can go low he does destroy daron

Punctuation is our friend, remember that.

Daron does write most of the drum parts, in fact he said that the drums are the first part he thinks up when he writes a song. But yeah I don't think John has to worry about Daron taking over his drumming duties, John can play very well. Daron only played some of the tougher bass parts on the new album, since Shavo is a very average bassist and hadn't mastered them enough yet.

Rothmans 05-28-2005 05:30 PM

Metal hammer gave it 10/10 for some reason I dont htink it deserved it and it kept blowing its horn.

NoHero9 05-28-2005 05:40 PM

The first album is definitely the best, mezmerize makes my ears bleed blood. How come Daron sounds like ringo starr on the last song? Cigarro is the only song i remotely like.

The first album is the best if you're looking for aggression, yes. So that makes sense that you only like Cigaro from the new album. As for the "Daron with a british accent" thing.....he's just doing what SOAD does quite often, satirizing.

NoHero9 05-28-2005 05:58 PM

I could give a shi't less about aggression, its just that the new album is shi't, toxicity gets old quick, and there are too many sleepers on steal this album. but I still enjoy chick'n' stu.

Well that's all personal opinion....but care to explain WHY you think Mesmerize sucks? I've heard people saying things like "it's annoying" and "there's too many pop hooks" and other silly things like that, what's your view?

Txus 05-28-2005 06:52 PM

The best songs in the whole cd for me are:
Cigaro
Question!
violent pornography
sad statue

In order

Salivation 05-28-2005 07:31 PM

I almost wanna relate these guys to a new age Rage Against the Machine

Element of LED 435 05-28-2005 08:36 PM

my favorite songs in order on the new album are:

Radio/Video
Violent Pornography
Sad Statue
Cigaro
Old School Hollywood
This Cocaine Makes me Feel Like I'm on This Song
B.Y.O.B. (gets repititive)

Thor 05-28-2005 08:47 PM

I wouldn't say that because they don't really rap in their songs, and Daron isn't as good as Tom Morello.

RATM>SOAD

No it isn't. Dumbass.

NoHero9 05-28-2005 09:08 PM

also, I dont like it, it is my opinion, and if you like it, that is fine, I like the band, just not this cd, just like I like metallica, but not st. anger, then again so does everyone, thats adifferent story entirely.

Rothmans 05-28-2005 09:10 PM

People say these are the new ratm I dont believe so what so ever dont diss ratm's legacy same goes to s.o.a.d they are too different from each other.
I could give a shi't less about aggression, its just that the new album is shi't
No it's not. The only thing better in previous albums than mesmerize is agression. They have evolved so much musically and vocally. Excluding Chop Suey from all of this cause that song still kicks ass the most.

I agree entirely even though Morello is defiantely overated

I liked St. Anger just not as much as the rest of there albums
I almost wanna relate these guys to a new age Rage Against the Machine
IMO that would be a very silly thing to do

Kyle 05-29-2005 08:33 AM

i just read this months total guitar, has Daron on the front. I didn't know he played drums too, and apparantly wrote all but 3 of Chavos bass parts.

Thor 05-29-2005 08:35 AM
I agree entirely even though Morello is defiantely overated
He is overrated, yes, but then so are tons of other guitarists out there.

How can you say that. I think you need to wake up from that dream wolrd your living in. Listen to "Take The Power Back" by RATM or "Doesn't Remind me of Anything" by Audioslave. Then listen to some Malakian solo and then tell me who's better.

Skit 05-29-2005 09:56 AM

Doesnt Tom just rub the fretboard and call it a solo?

Darons solo's rule, I love the Núguns banjo solo :thumb:

Ultimate Donky 05-29-2005 02:56 PM

Daron has good, simple solos. They aren't mindblowing or anything close to it, but they do sound good and fit the song. Daron isn't exactly the greatest guitarist in the world, but he does write some pretty good riffs, and goodsongs in general, and that to me is much more important than a crazy shredding solo.

He did in Bulls on Parade, but that's probably his easiest solo. If you really want to see what he is capable of listen to "Township Rebellion".
