I own the blue album compilation, and I listen to it all the time :p I really love the beatles. I was considering buying some albums (I.E. Sergent pepper's lonely hearts club band, abbey road, revolver, and maybe a few others) but I'm not sure if it's worth it considering I already own that previously-mentioned compilation :p
Suggestions?
Definitely buy the albums you mentioned, I don't think compilations do the Beatles justice. |
All of them is what suggest.
But start off witht he white album, abbey road, magical mystery tour, revolver |
ok cool thanks I'll look into it :)
Oh and another question *feels like a beatles n00b* What album is yesterday on? |
It's on "Help!".

Suggestions?
Since the blue album has the later songs (its 1967-70, right?) I would start off buying an earlier album like "Hard Day's Night" or "Help!", they have lots of great songs as well. But if you want to stick with the later stuff, go with the albums mentioned above :thumb: |
You really can't go wrong with whatever album you choose.

Ok cool :) Yeah it's 67-70. Well I kind of prefer their later stuff to their earlier stuff, but I still like it so I'll see. If not, I can always buy their red album and buy their latter albums that were mentioned above. But I think I'll just go for the normal albums, no compilations :p Thanks very much for the tips guys. |
Seriously... compliation albums are a good way to get into the music, but afterwards it is just rehashing the same songs over and over. The "Anthology" series is the one exception, but other than that, stick with real albums :thumb:
|
Though Rufus Wainwright did a cover of "Across the Universe" which I am quite fond of: probably the combination of Wainwright and the Beatles... excellent mix, in my opinion :thumb:
is that on a commercial? or is that someone else's cover of Across the Universe? |
mmm and plus, when you finally get the real albums, you are already sick of the ones on the compilations
Sgt. Pepper's got me hooked, although I got ahold of Abbey Road first, but I couldn't really appriciate it until after I heard some of their other stuff Their earlier stuff is addictive, but the charm wears off after awhile How is "Beatles for Sale?" is it more like A Hard Day's Night or Rubber Soul? |
Beatles For Sale is more like A Hard Day's Night
|
but there are only 8 original Beatles songs and 6 covers(one Chuck Berry, two Carl Perkins, one Buddy Holly, and the other two I havent heard of)
IMO not their best, but still good |

I downloaded it a year ago or so... Rufus Wainwright is a semi-famous musician, not everyone has heard of him... he was the one who sang "Halelujah" for that Shrek movie? |
For the Hey Jude discussion earlier:
Hey Jude was not on a studio album. Capitol released in the US the Hey Jude album, which was mostly stuff already released and stuff, but it was never on their actual studio albums. And it was the A-side....the B-side was Revolution (much better song imo :thumb: ) |

Yowza, this thread moved fast when I was gone... To the person asking about getting albums and the compilations and all... If you have the 67-70 compilation, I'd suggest getting Revolver (first really experimental album of theirs, plus it was released in 66.) On a slightly different note, does anyone know why Rock Not Roll was banned?
|
Nope, I just asked him earlier.
|
No **** clue. Apparently mods can ban whoever the **** they want for no reason at all without any repercussions.
This is a dictatorship I says  |

This is a dictatorship I says
Time for a revolution, let's enstate communism. Sure it didn't work countless other times, but I have a good feeling about this time. |
Sad. Well, surely they won't ban someone with a Waynes World icon...
|
That would be a condemable sin.
Who else thinks that A Hard Days Night is underrated around here? It's an awesome album, probably the best from their pop era. |
I love it, every song is a great.

Alrighty then. As long as everyone got banzorzed htere... |
I hate it when mods ban everybody in one thread, even if they did the right thing.
|
never liked them that much.
|
^^^ any particular reason??
