I'd like to suggest a potential debate thread where we can discuss what pop-punk is amically. I think it could run well using the same format as we had in the punk forum, which Shizzy helped run so he could set it up. We can then have a couple of people debating what it is and what bands should be included with no-one else allowed to post in that thread other than the designated few.

I would be more than willing to help run the debate if it were put in motion.

Hey Joel, I'm doing a big school project on the topic of endangered ecosystems, such as the rain forests and the coral reefs. I'm just wondering what your thoughts on this are? What can be done to help, and who is responsible? Also, if you could find some statistics that clearly shows that these ecosystems are taking damage, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the title of my essay, it's "How the structure of different cells is related to their function". If you could just finish up about 800 words on that, and email it to me by 10:30am tomorrow, that'd be great.

Originally we would debate what is pop-punk, and then if anyone wants you could go onto other topics.


For the first example, there would be people like Ganondorf etc who believe that pop-punk is punk music that is main stream and so is "popular".

And then perhaps Shizzy, myself and Albert could oppose the view saying that there is no such thing as popular punk, and that pop punk is just a term describing punk music with more melodic singing hooky guitar riffs blah blah blah etc etc

I believe that debating other things would be alright. I mean, this here is a pretty small community and everyone knows the other pretty well (internet-wise). Not many people here venture out into other forums like Politics very much. So having a debate thread in here would be cool for those who don't leave pop-punk very much.

But obviously the "What is pop-punk?" question will pop up eventually.

Yep, i suggested it as a way of ending the argument that began in the What Is Pop-punk thread, as it ended without a real conclusion.

Obviously it could then go onto other topics, but this is fresh in the mind and i think it would be a good idea, especially as in that thread it seemed there was a lot of confused opinions
