What band was the band in the movie modeled after? Was it Deep Purple?
The drummer was modeled after John Bonham, the guitarist was Dickey Betts, and the singer was Paul Rodgers (I think, not too sure), and the bassist had too little to do with the movie for anyone to tell. So I don't think it was modeled after just one group. |
Who is Paul Rodgers?
|
He sang in Free and Bad Company.
|
And now sings for Queen (he's good, but no Freddie).
|
And Queen, as of right now.
Have you heard him singing RNR? I was wondering how he holds up on some of those songs. |
Yep yep.
|
We've discussed this before.
Stillwater (THE BAND) is based on Led Zeppelin, but the members are based on different figures in music. |
Right now, I'm downloading a torrent of the 73-on GD albums. May it be done in the mornin'
|
gota love classic rock
|
Hey, you're productive.
Did anyone know that Hendrix covered "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"? It's really good. |
Yea, I have it on the 4-disc box set thing. Along with his cover of Like a Rolling Stone.
|
This is so cool.
I'm getting 365 kb/s on my torrent :p *EDIT* HAHA now it's raised to 535Kb/s woooo |
Bastard. :( My internet is so incredibly slow.
I'm burning that 4 disc box set as we speak. :D Er... type. |
If I could remember what page this thread was on when I left, I'd make a witty remark about how many have been added since then, as is the usual formality. :p
|
Is the 4-disc set any good?
I need the earlier stuff. The one in this is Wake of the Flood and on. I need Aoxomoxoa, s/t, Europe '72, Skull and Roses, Live/Dead |
the four disc set is awesome. but you DO know theyre talkiing about hendrix and not the dead right?
anyway, its got his awesome cover of "like a rolling stone," too, and in better quality than the other recording i have of it. |
My local Classic Rock station is doing an A-Z CCR weekend. It's been gooood listening needless to say.
|
I just got done downloading the Grateful Dead 12 disc set in 1 hour and 21 mins.
It is 1277mb. |

 And I have American Beauty on CD and vinyl so :) |
I just got the Axis album by Jimi Hendrix and was listening to If 6 was 9, and it has the lines 'If the sun refused to shine.../ And the mountains crumbled to the sea...' The song Thank You by Led Zeppelin also has these. Did one of them copy the other, and if so was it done as a delibrate thing? Just interested to see if it was random or done on purpose.
|
Yeah I also noticed that but had forgotten about it, Axis:Bold As Love was released before Zeppelin II so its possible, could be coincidental but most probably not. Hendrix probably got the idea from the lyric out of a fantasy novel as he enjoyed reading them.
|
The guitarist in Stillwater reminded me of George Harrison.
|
I was going to say it must be a famous line of some form, as its no tthe sort of line you can say it was coincidence they both used it.
|
