But this "Metalcore" stuff is the new thing then because about every band that I have been hearing about lately are pretty good. I will admit that I have been stuck in my cd colection for the past few years and ignored alot of new music. I kind of got sick of all the crap being put out and stuck with the stuff I knew and liked..

But there are alot of great metal bands around and I have been really impressed with bands like As I lay Dying, All That Remains, God Forbid, Sonic Syndicate, In This Moment(really like her voice,lyrics sorta cheesy..), Damageplan, and i'll end it with Light This City... Just some I got into lately but I was familiar with Damageplan already but not their entire collection which I have finally heard many times over..

I think one of my favorite bands right now is Mastodon at the moment, Well for quite awhile actually. Just a great sound and I love the amount of effort thats put into each song. They really are a "untouchable" band in my opinion along with ....Trivium. < Think very highly of them even though they are criticized greatly by alot of diehard metal fans.

i'm in the same situation. might try to con my friends into going for my birthday.

I only know one dude who listens to black metal.

A lot of my friends listen to black metal.

I don't think I know anyone in person that listens to black metal.

About half of my friends listen to BM, mostly the new-ish stuff like Bone Awl and Alcest.

none of my friends really listen to music beyond what they're fed by popular magazines/the radio, they suck

My friends who listen to BM like Alcest and what not, but they still appreash the oldschool.

My one friend is playing DSBM now, and me and my one friend have been talking about starting a project if he ever has time.
