And apparently, some people (magicbus, AH) don't quite grasp the concept of "fact".

Arucard 04-04-2005 03:47 PM

In England, AH would have been called a racist by now, and Ill would have sued for some reason.

**** politcally correct country.

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 03:48 PM

I hate basketball, but if i can bet, props to it.

Its the only sport i play the most and refuse to get better at. Most people that play with me get hurt 5 our of 6 times.

Totally worthit :thumb:
OH LOOK I CAN USE BIG FONT TO LOOK LIKE I'M TRYING TO MAKE A POINT EVEN THOUGH I'M JUST TALKING OUT OF MY BUTT! Objective vs. Subjective seems to escape a lot of peoples' minds. THERE IS NOT A UNIVERSAL RIGHT OR WRONG OPINION, STFU.
123'ed

Every one's opinions are subjective, there is no way around it, which in turn makes no opinion right or wrong.

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 03:50 PM

heres an example

Illinois sucks

Fact: I just quoted Illinois suck
Opinion: I think illinois sucks

-and even though i think Illinois is a great team, i think UNC is better :p

Arucard 04-04-2005 03:50 PM

For gods sake. Shut up!

magicbus 04-04-2005 03:51 PM
And apparently, some people (magicbus, AH) don't quite grasp the concept of "fact".
Alright, let's do it this way.

Someone considers rap not to be music. By definition, rap IS music. That makes it a fact, not opinion. So they're wrong, but its not their opinion.

Saying the sky is green, wrong, it's blue, fact.

Saying rap isn't music, wrong, it is, fact.

Saying Illinois is frantic, opinion, can't be proved wrong.

Never mind.

Illmatic 04-04-2005 03:52 PM

"In my opinion, AH likes to touch 10 year old boys."

Now, clearly, this is wrong statement.

"In my opinion, Asians are the least competent race."

Ditto.

There is such a thing as a wrong opinion when it collides with a little thing called "fact".

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-04-2005 03:52 PM

So, how was everyones day?

Joe 04-04-2005 03:53 PM

my day sucks, thanks for asking. came home from school, had a fight with my girlfriend, started homework, did chores, and now i'm on here

you?

Arucard 04-04-2005 03:54 PM

Mine was good.

And AH you didnt edit...?

And Ill SHUT UP.

Well, it depends on your definition of "frantic"

I define it as playing sloppy, rushed, irresponsible basketball. Now, anyone who has watched Illinois KNOWS that they are one of the smartest, most well-run, and most patient basketball teams in the country.

You could call Rap poetry or Storytelling with some background sounds, instead of music. :)

Children, children.

Jom 04-04-2005 03:56 PM

This is idiotic. There is no universal perspective, as much as you wish for there to be one. People are going to think that because Illinois likes to sporadically push the ball up the floor, they will call that "frantic."

Just deal with it that people aren't going to agree with you.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-04-2005 03:56 PM

My day is going fairly mediocre at the moment. I cleaned up my house, because my mom tore her ACL and MCL skiing, so she can't really do much at the moment. (refl) I started learning Ticks & Leeches by Tool. Fairly simple song, but it's got some cool riffage. I had a grilled cheese for lunch. Oh yeah, and I'm on spring break, so I don't really go to school. :doublecool:

magicbus 04-04-2005 03:56 PM
Well, it depends on your definition of "frantic"
I define frantic as the way Illinois plays basketball.

That's my opinion.
Emo....
haha, that made my day. it's funny, my rock metal friend is listening to emo because his gf

is there a smilie for "whipped?"

but yea i hate emo (yea yea it's what i'm feeling, but i refuse to listen to the music)

You're entire post is opinion. Deal with it, people think different from you. Stop trying to force your opinions down others' throats.

He believes his opinion is fact, and so is in the right. There's no way to make ANYONE SEE REASON! MY GOD, WE'VE TOTALLY FORGOTTEN HOW TO DISAGREE!!!!!

I vote for a change of subject and attitude. This whole Illmatic vs. everyone else is retarded.

superpeer 04-04-2005 04:01 PM

So Jake... Therapy? ?

Illmatic 04-04-2005 04:01 PM

Hahahahaha

I'm right.

I'm so freakin' right.

Highly excited with strong emotion or frustration; frenzied: frantic with worry.
Characterized by rapid and disordered or nervous activity: made a frantic last-minute search for the lost key.
Archaic. Mad; insane.

Bolded = key words.

By defintion, Illinois is not frantic. Game over. I win.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-04-2005 04:04 PM
So Jake... Therapy? ?
I listened to the first one that you uploaded yesterday. Straight Life, I beleive it was called. It liked the intro, and how the main riff sort of followed that. I can't say I am very fond of the vox, however. Too closely related to the 'I'm a tough guy badass' Nickelback type. Overall, I found it to be quite a good song. :thumb:

NP: Led Zeppelin-No Quarter

Jom 04-04-2005 04:06 PM

How the hell do you win this pathetic argument, just because you think everyone agrees that Illinois is not a "frantic" team by pulling out the dictionary, yet only highlighting portions of the definiton because you deem them appropriate? I could bold "highly excited with strong emotion" because it's their first championship game in school history, but you don't see me being a dick about it just because I think you're a dumbass for trying to prove a point that's not there.

Let's play a game, and it can go like this. I name a band, then you rate the band and tell me what you think of them. Since I am listening to Tool right now, lets start with them. What does everyone think of Tool?

Once you have responded to that band, you may ask us about another band. :thumb:

Frustration, disorder, and nervousness are all words I associate with the game of basketball. The entire game is disorderly: running around the court, passing back and forth, trying to make a shot, trying to keep the ball from the opposing players.

I think the game is frantic. I think the teams playing are frantic. Therefore, I think Illinois is frantic.

/listens to song again

Remember, I only listened to this song once. :-/

I use the Nickelback comparison far to often. I didn't mean they sounded like Nickelback. Ah crap, the song is good. Never mind. :p

I'm starting to really feel the song, man. :thumb: GG in choosing good taste in music.

Jelle- You're supposed to name another band for us to 'critique'

ATM 04-04-2005 04:15 PM
