i didnt literally mean that because he doesnt sing about life on the streets he is respectable...

i meant that he speaks like a normal human being....

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 10:16 PM

Any music I can do the robot too is fine with me.

RockThe40oz! 08-29-2005 10:17 PM

but i do like him for that

you dont have to be a poor ghetto gangsta to make good rap music

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 10:17 PM
i didnt literally mean that because he doesnt sing about life on the streets he is respectable...

Yeah, I have to give it to him, he actually appears to be literate.

RockThe40oz! 08-29-2005 10:19 PM

i think that when rappers sing about "life on the streets" they usually miss the point of even writing music at all...

cause they usually just talk about "bustin caps"

it doesnt do much to inspire you

It inspires me to bust a few extra caps every now and then...

And maybe drink a 40 or two.

Can you really discuss African American hip hop when your not African American correctly?

May I ask you, what do you see in the "projects" else than drugs, sex, rape, gangs, and things on that nature?

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 10:29 PM

Whatever happened to the freestyle thread?

Wasn't it Sid versus Sketchy?

That was great.

SantaDuJuan 08-29-2005 10:31 PM

I think one of them one.

RockThe40oz! 08-29-2005 10:32 PM
May I ask you, what do you see in the "projects" else than drugs, sex, rape, gangs, and things on that nature?
i understand that there are hardships in the "projects"

but, when they sing about the drugs, sex, gangs, and rape.....

thats another story

...especially when they say "this is my hood!"

What do you think those hardships are?
Not getting accepted into college?
No.

It's about being poor and having respect for your roots.
As in West Coast, East Coast.

=)
I understand that your white.

Brain Toad 08-29-2005 10:33 PM
I think one of them one.
What now?

Unseen2k0 08-29-2005 10:34 PM

Page 1 of "Punk" seriously blows.

SantaDuJuan 08-29-2005 10:34 PM
What now?
Edit: I think one of them won.

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 10:34 PM

In the American society there is a differnce in being a poor white man and a poor black man.

People write and sing about what they love, if they love where they came from, if it includes drugs, sex, gang violence. Let them do it.
Self expression comes from the inside and your surroundings.

I mean look at GG Allin. He wasn't born crazy, his life turned him crazy.

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 10:40 PM
I mean look at GG Allin. He wasn't born crazy, his life turned him crazy
I think that's debatable. GG was one insane motherf'ucker.

SantaDuJuan 08-29-2005 10:41 PM

That is kind of true, but I do think his child life really influnced his mind and way of life highly.
I mean Jesus the guy was beyond crazy.

you make a good point....

but there is alot of things that could be speculated...

things are more complicated than drugs and violence....

Like what?
When I was around 3 and 4 my mother dealed weed right infront me.
To this day when I hear about drugs violence and over doeses.
It hurts me in a personal way.
I could make a quality hip hop song about that.
And it would be a quality topic to sing about.

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 10:45 PM

Dag Nasty, The Slackers, Flux Of Pink Indians.

You gotta be ****ting me.
What do you think musical lyrics come from?
Singing about what you eat for breakfest?

No!
It comes from personal things.

Plus, you don't how much of an impact that song can have on someone.

yeah, but the point was when i started to talk about rap was that i think its more respectable to sing about that kinda shi't "in a personal way" besides just saying this is my hood, a do drugs and gang bang and drivebys...or MIKE JONES! MIKE JONES! MIKE JONES!

....they can rap about whatever they want to......

but when i hear that kind of **** i just want to go and ask the rappers why they want to sound so....."ghetto"......i just dont understand why....

Sid 08-29-2005 10:58 PM

It's funny when the MTV rappers do it. I'm sure they're on the streets everyday, with their millions of dollars and bmws.
