Well the Meat Puppets arent artsy at all. And I realized I don't listen to similar bands as you guys anymore, and have been drifting in to A&I more and more.......

A bit more metal than punk IMO.

They only have a couple songs that even remotely resemble metal. Descent, The Birthing, and Die For The Demon are the only songs that resemble metal to me.

I'm going to make a new weekly or bi-weekly thread called Uncle Andy's Unpunk Punk Rock Thread, in which I will talk about bands that aren't punk rock per se, but bands that punk rockers would like because of their spirit, energy, relevance, etc. It's gonna be awesome.
