This is the gist of my operation:

Home run/operated business dealing in

A) CD Printing / burning for bands (inc. artwork design if required) for their own use
B) Online mail-order sale of CDs, art, and related merchandise (posters/shirts/badges eventually) providing a platform for artists to sell their work. If nothing ever sells, you never get paid, otherwise artists are paid monthly/bi-weekly or whatever according to how much they've sold.

For tax purposes I can never have any employees but I pretty much want to do all the work personally anyway.

I don't want to pay the bills with it, just do some work for something I believe in.

Yea I'm new to these parts.

But yea, just about big80s record company dream , was gonna say Australia's undergounrnd music scene is top class, but apart from the Modular bands (Presets, Cut Copy, Van She, etc), there's like no publicity for them. Wish someone would start something that would get them all known.

I don't think record companys have much place in the future of music.

It's a band's own responsibility to get themselves known, the only other piece of the puzzle should be distribution of their product, I'm getting in on some of that action this year.
