Apocalyptic Trance Ritual is such a hypnotizing song.
on Pantheist: I love the deep vocals actually. |
Yeah, I'm probably in the minority. For clean vocals, I prefer higher.
|
Do you guys like Confessor, or would they even be applicable to this thread (technical doom)?
/nod from Nemesis Divina |
Confessor is good.
|
I've only got Condemned, and it was odd at first how all the vocals are clean kind of yells or whatever but it grew on me. I sampled the album after it on itunes but it sounded a little bland.
|
I feel sorry for missing them, some time back.
It was a free gig to make it worse.
Ouch. :( The Fallen album seems good mate. I didn't really pay much attention to it on the first listen as I got caught up doing other things, but it seems promising.
I don't like those style of really deep vocals.
Heh, that's what I love about Funeral Doom. NP: Mournful Congregation - Suffer The Storms |
So, what would Precambrian by The Ocean be considered? The description I got gave me the impression they were some sort of sludge/doom outfit, but this sounds nothing like either. It's good, granted, but it's different.
|
Pantheist is fantastic.
My favorite song of theirs is The Pains Of Sleep off the same titled EP. It is amazingly epic. |

They describe themselves as "ambient soundtrack doomrock" so idk. Precambrian is fantastic sometimes I think it's the best album of the year, sometimes it's like in 4th place. Their old stuff is also really worth a listen. If you like them you may like Burst or Knut :) |
Sons of Otis/Queen Elephantine split:
http://www.mediafire.com/?3ywgjlyttjn This is an awesome release, particularly for the QE side. |
What is QE like?
|
Thanks Kage!
Any suggestions for an album by The Ocean to check out? |
What is QE like?
They sound really influenced by the Sleep/Om type repetition and psychedelia, etc. but they add kind of an Eastern drone spin to it. Check out the song Chariot in Solemn Procession on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/queenelephantine |
Yeah, I like Confessor as well. The vocals are so strange especially for the music behind them, but I guess it fits. I would like to hear Unraveled as well, but I've never really taken the time to find a link for it or anything.
Thanks for the split, Kage. I hope you don't get banned. It sounds like I'll be a big fan of that Queen Elephantine from the description. (Om) |
I already have that split and it's really ****ing amazing. Favorite Sons of Otis album, Kage? I only have X and I want more
Chris: Start with Precambrian. |
damn you all!
i want to check out a lot of these albums you guys are talking about but i need to wait like 2 more weeks, I've been doing really good at keeping my downloads under control. I'm really interested in Om, the Stormcrowfleet, Solitude Aeturnus, etc. |
it's not the Stormcrowfleet
Stormcrowfleet is an album by Skepticism Skepticism- Stormcrowfleet |
whatever, i've got the name saved for when i actually want to get it. That one in particular sounds really good though, especially from its MA page.

I personally like Through The Darkest Hour and Beyond The Crimson Horizon the most.
|
Double post, but I never realized that former members of Midnattsol are part of Ahab. What a change...
The first three are essential.
Definitely. The first is definitely my favorite though. |
I couldn't decide even if you had a gun to my head.
|
I still haven't heard the new Candlemass with Rob on it. Is it worth checking out?
