Haha.
Get someone who doesn't speak much English to sign that contract. Reminds me of the playground in primary school, convincing the little kids to swap their $2 for your 50c because your coin was bigger and hence worth more. Then not actually doing it of course, because I'm a pretty nice guy. It's a good lesson for the children though; don't trust anyone.
Haha, good times. |
who should i watch at soundwave NIN or LOG
they're both on at the same time. |
stand in between
|
Hmm I'd say NIN but I don't really like either a huge amount.
|
stand in between
lol
I haven't worked in almost 2 months :( Feel pretty bad.
Six months here. Job hunting has become an emo activity for me. |
Ah well.
At least there's a lot of cricket on. |
I have never worked a day in my life. :smoke:
I can't stand beach cricket, I want more one-dayers though. |
There's a one dayer tomorrow.
I didn't watch the beach cricket, didn't know it was on haha. I think it was just a charity event though so good on them. And yes Chu we're all reminded often of your not working :p. Godspeed. |
I think the beach cricket is on every Saturday.
NZ vs SA, and Aus vs SA today, don't know how the game works though. |
I can't imagine how it'd work professionally haha.
Hell I've never really played it recreationally either. Without umpires the whole sport of cricket is really just to hit it as far as you can or failing that into the face or groin of someone you disapprove of. |
NIN; both for not being Lamb of God and for being NIN.
|

Chu and I are going to become life coaches. True story.
|
Yeah Chu can I do data entry for you or soundtrack work. Both?
|
I'm seeing an advanced screening of Gran Torino tonight. Should be good.
|
I'm having a very late lunch; a mango and 125g of salted cashews. Damn diet.

I actually do plan on starting my own company :D
You guys are invited to join (if anyone of you are aware of silicon valley during the dotcom-era boom, that is how my company will be structured, another google), but understand I might not be able to pay you much for a while (honestly, it won't be because I'm paying myself, the money will evenly be spread out across the employees). I'm very passionate about Open Source software, and my company will reflect this, we will mainly generate income via; a) donations (likely?), b) support, or c) some other case I haven't worked out. I have done no training in business, but do plan on taking a few courses when (if) the possibility approaches me. If anyone has, they are welcome to take reign as CEO (CIO?), or at least the business director/visionary. Edit: An Evan won't be at work when I have to ask him a question. Jaunty Jackalope is not being released until April! I want to upgrade to Intrepid Ibex, do you upgrade via the Ubuntu installer*? Or download the new iso, burn it and re-install that way? *I realise you could not write over the kernel while it is running... |
So Chu, would you pay us in shares initially?
What can I do in your company? NSW are getting monstered. 4 for 39 in the 6.2 over. |
Yes, everyone would be payed in an equal amount of shares initially.
If you are familiar with how Canonical release Ubuntu;
Instead of selling Ubuntu for profit, Canonical creates revenue by selling technical support. By keeping Ubuntu free and open source, Canonical is able to take advantage of the talents of outside developers in Ubuntu's constituent components with out developing the entire operating system itself.
Basically, it will be a very similar model. What this means, is anything you contribute to an open-source project (media (music/art), d0cumentation, translation, coding, management, etc) would potentially count as work for the company (although it will be emphasized to do inter-company work, there will be no contract clause which says you have to). Honestly, I haven't really planned it that much, I have a basic image for how I see it working, I will try to guide it towards that, probably with out providing any formal d0cumentation/plan.... |
chu, I am interested. may I be executive vice manager?
|
Wicked Chu. Here are my list of skills/abilities that may be relevant to you:
* Music composing / recording * Printable CD/DVD production * Graphic design * Data entry Actually that's about it. Could I make the sounds it makes? |
If you would like to do an interview, you may send your resume to my good friend Aaron Cox, via aywkubt_tod'at'hotmail.com. We will send you some correspondence, and determine which position you will most likely suit.
Thank you very much for your interest in the company. Yours sincerely, the Estate. |
That is my resume.
|
I call:
Risk, Finance and Liabilities Executive General Manager Board Consultant |
I call musical consultant.
|
I have rolled the dice, and the result is ...
"You have been elected as senior artistic director". The following is a brief bio summarising your job in the company: "You will be in charge of all art produced and released, the position includes: a) Overseeing artistic production (you will be in charge of all graphical and audible productions, making sure they meet a desired (and proposed) completion date). b) General user-interface testing (you will be in charge of testing, and refining user-interface design). Really, there is going to be a fair bit of work here (I think), so I don't won't to bog you down with much more, but if any-time you feel you could e doing more work, I would ask you to consider perhaps doing so... Edit: Aaron, I think that could work. I would ask you to read "free software, free society" by rms (link: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/fsfs/rms-essays.pdf), and perhaps offer some advice on what you see as potential risks in trying to employ this as a business model. |
So aside from doing art and music, I just have to test the thing to make sure it works and report any problems/suggest improvements, and then if I come up with anything else, I'll do that too?
What do you do Chu, write the code? Is the Professor involved? |
Yeah, basically, I'm either going to take project manager, or just general coder.
|
Swell.
So you're going to make an open source operating system or something? |
There's already GNU/Linux as the operating system, but we can find an open source project and support it, or create a new project etc.
I'm thinking of doing hardware as well, but that could be very difficult, so it's perhaps an expansion in the future. |
