Well I knew that Iommi used Laney at some point and Marshalls at another but I really have no idea what he usedin the ozzy era.

rippa32 05-06-2005 03:54 AM

Well not much is happening in this thread. Ill set things off by starting a little trivia.
What year did Ozzy first leave Black Sabbath?

Brew 05-06-2005 09:45 AM

1977.

Replaced by Dave Walker (I think thats his name)

Came back in 1978.

Released Never Say Die!

Finally kicked out in late 1978/early 1979.

shadow_stalker 05-06-2005 10:30 AM

Damnit beaten to it (probably by a long way).

didn't they scrap all the work they did with him because ozzy refused to sing it.

Jimi Haze 05-06-2005 11:06 AM

Anyone going to see them at Download?
I am :D With backstage V.I.P tickets so I'll be meeting them hehe :p

shadow_stalker 05-06-2005 11:28 AM

...i hate you, you lucky bastard

Brew 05-06-2005 11:49 AM

Transport me back to 1973 then I'd be really jealous of you.

shadow_stalker 05-06-2005 11:51 AM

lol, why 73?

hwy your postcount says 73 at the end of it.

Brew 05-06-2005 04:28 PM

1973 = Vol.4 tour, when the Sabbath MK 1 line-up were at their best.

AA-12 05-06-2005 04:29 PM

Mk 1?

Brew 05-06-2005 04:34 PM

*sigh*

Mk 1 Black Sabbath = Ozzy/Geezer/Iommi/Bill
Mk 2 = Dio/Geezer/Iommi/Bill
Mk 3 = Dio/Geezer/Iommi/Vinny

etc...

There have been roughly 40 different Black Sabbath line-ups.

Actually they only wrote a couple of songs with him and I think Ozzy sang it, I can't quite remember.

EDIT: It was juniors eyes and the lyrics are different on ozzy's version.

metallica fan 05-07-2005 04:22 AM

rippa32 05-07-2005 04:55 AM

shadow_stalker 05-07-2005 06:35 AM

They actually wrote an entire albums worth of material, and played an early version of Juniors Eyes on TV with Dave.

When Ozzy came back he didn't want to use any of the stuff that had been written, so they wrote what we now know as Never Say Die!

shadow_stalker 05-11-2005 04:33 AM

geezerbasser21370 05-11-2005 08:40 AM

geezerbasser21370 05-11-2005 08:41 AM

Speaking of Halford was any one at the ozzfest in jersey where halford sang with sabbath? I thought he did pretty good except paranoid......

Brew 05-11-2005 10:07 AM

I've got a few songs from his 1992 performances.

They're not great, but his voice adds an interesting twist to the Sabbath songs.

I downloaded a nice rare live Sabbath song from 1969 last night :)

shadow_stalker 05-11-2005 11:20 AM

what song?

Brew 05-11-2005 12:47 PM

I can't remember the name, but it was quite jazzy.

Also easy to find, if you use your brain.

shadow_stalker 05-11-2005 02:01 PM

Thats not fair, i cant use mine!

Brew 05-11-2005 02:06 PM

Your problem, not mine :p

shadow_stalker 05-11-2005 02:08 PM

It will be everyones problem when i rule the world.

Yeah I got that one too. Im surprised at the quality of it considering its a bootleg from 1969. Its a shame you cant hear what Ozzy is singing though.

wicked_child 05-12-2005 04:52 AM

btw, who sang on black sabbath's version of smoke on the water?
