I really like Childhood's End. Like a lot. The solo rules so much that I went out and learned it.
dude, Final Cut is amazing...the jaz (sax by waters)...good stuff...u just need to be willing to listen to the lyrics dude....maybe softer....but it still rocks!!
I never had a problem with the softer stuff, I just didnt like some of the songs. |
Floyd never had a frontman post Syd Barrett. (IMO)
|
Sorry to move off topic (this will probably be ignored anyway)
But has anyone noticed on the second disc on The Wall track 4 (i think it is called vera) is one if not the most beautiful music pink floyd ever created i really wished they kept that moment a bit longer than one minute |
YES!
My dad said (i'm 15 mind you), when that song came out.. err The Wall did.. He was dating a woman named Vera. Very cool. Also, didn't anyone know that The Wall is a never ending loop. Listen to In The Flesh I, disc one.. First song, REALLY loud. You here "We came in", now listen to the last song, disc two. Same music style.. not like in the flesh.. but it says "Isn't this where" Very cool I thought. |

Very cool I thought.
Same with Frances The Mute by The Mars Volta |
Did Pink Floyd ever cover "House of the Rising Sun?" Because I downloaded a version of the song and it had Pink Floyd as the artist, but it doesn't really sound like them.

No it was mislabeled I mean there has been tons of sopposed "House of the Rising Sun" covers drifting around and all of them are the Animals cover. I use Soul Seek. |

It's not the Animals cover because I have that song too. This one has distortion in it. |

Yea I downloaded something that said Led Zeppelin - House of the Rising Sun  |
Does anyone else feel like you're on acid when you listen to Intersteller Overdrive?
|
Floyd never had a frontman post Syd Barrett. (IMO)
Despite Dave singing for most of there albums and doing the lead guitar (obviously) Roger soon became frontman. For instance, during the Wall tour, he hired another bassist so he could sing and act |
Roger Waters could really be considered the frontman for Animals/The Wall/Final Cut. Those were his projects and he really drove them home.
|
Yeah, that is really cool. I didn't know that happened on Frances The Mute as well though. Vera refers to the English World War II singer Vera Lynn, who was really loved by the armed forces, obviously mirroring one of the really repeated themes on the album, that of the military and the death of Pink's father, etc. It's a very beautiful song though, I agree.
Wow, Med, congrats big time mang :thumb: |
It's not the Animals cover because I have that song too. This one has distortion in it.
Send me it. It could be The Ventures or even Hendrix. |
I'm really getting sick of people saying that Pink Floyd is the best music to listen to when you're stoned. They have no real respect for their music and assume that the wall is the best Floyd Album. I love Pink Floyd but I'm really to much of a fan of the wall.
|
hey...i no this has had to of been talked about...u no how if you put Darkside to The Wizard of Oz..it goes with it...why do u think they did that...?
|
here it is
http://s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=08F7XADQ7ISDB1DB5YU0T47NP4
Thanks. It's definently not Pink Floyd, but I can't really tell who it is singing. At first it sounded like a home recording, but not so much when they start singing. I have like 4 versions of the song, and it's not any of those, so I couldn't tell you. :upset: |

Take time with your spelling. The didn't do it on purpose. I havn't tried it myself but Ive heard that it very loosely fits the movie. |
You know I can't imagine how much they must have laughed their asses off when they tried to link it up for the first time.

About The Wall thing.. Why do you dislike people because they enjoy it, and think it's the bands best work? Because it's the most well known? That doesn't matter.. It is a VERY good album, a mix of all types of Floyd. Both lyrically and musically it's one of the greatest albums ever. So what if 4 of the songs from it are popular.. The reason is cause they're so **** good. And for the record.. My favorite album is The Final Cut. |

It's a very well thought out album and a lot of its criticism comes from people who don't even understand the album. I mean, the variety in music, with the lyrics that carry on numerous themes. Just because someone who likes Dark Side or The Wall the best, doesn't mean that they aren't big Floyd fans. Their early stuff sounds like the Beatles if they did even more acid than they already did. It's not for everyone. None of their music is. The Final Cut is underrated. Enough said. |
