What is the standard deviation for the mean BMI value and the mean VO2 max value? If this is for something like a freshman biology class, I can imagine the error being huge. Are you sure the data was all gathered the same way? Perhaps more importantly, are you sure you're determining the correlation right?

The correlation between BMI and VO2 max really might not be as strong as expected, though. A low BMI does not necessarily mean being physically fit. However, there being [i]some[/i] correlation might make sense.
