I'm not big on Romeo. He's a great player for sure, but I can't really get into his playing too much. Maybe I haven't heard enough though.

If Buckethead counts as a metal guitarist, I'd put him right up there with Petrucci. He's at least as technically skilled, if not more so, and he has much more feel and variety in his playing than Petrucci.

today i went to the store, and i saw a vintage premier snare drum.

this one was insane! the strainer was....ODD. the strainer was inside of the drum, and it had 2 moving parts instead of one. at one end, theres the lever thingy, and then the internal strainer, but, it connects with a metal shaft across the drum to the other side, which makes the other part move simultaneously.

very very smooth. i like it too. i didnt have the cash though :(

I'm not too big on Enter the Chicken either, but Nottingham Lace is an excellent song with an awesome guitar solo.

You're right, all his albums are different. My favorites are Monsters & Robots, Colma, and Population Override, in that order. Monsters & Robots is electronica/funk metal with some hip-hop thrown in. Colma is almost all acoustic ambient stuff, really great music. Population Override is more bluesy, laid back rock than anything.

Praxis is one of his side projects, and they're unbelieveable. Find Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis), if you can.
