Write This Down is...
Chad Johnny Nate Before now, "write this down" was just a phrase people threw around. But after the world gets a hold of the debut album from Write This Down -- the band -- it'll stand for something else entirely. Remember the first time you heard Brand New, Foo Fighters, Taking Back Sunday, or Underoath? Remember that primal urgency that drove Rage Against The Machine? Get ready to feel it again. An intense power-trio equal parts dirty rock riffery and soaring, bombastic melodies, Write This Down stands poised to turn the modern rock world on its head with scene-bred and radio rock schooled emotional power steeped in faith and hopefulness. "We play a lot of heavier shows, but we're the one band that stands up there and does harmonies," explains guitarist Nate Rockwell. Rockwell's diverse guitar, Chad Nichols' powerful drumming and Johnny Collier's powerfully anthemic and alternately personally reflective vocals: that's what you get with Write This Down, the layers of instrumentation being stripped away in favor of layers of harmony and thoughtful dynamics. Produced by Rob Hawkins in Nashville, the self-titled Tooth & Nail debut from these native Minnesotans is instantly engaging. From raw power to beautiful balladry, it's all here. "Alarm the Alarm" sets the tone, the perfect blend of heavy rock power and poppy melody. "We Shot the Moon" is as catchy as it gets, while "Renegade" is super muscular and almost metal. "'Redemption' has probably the best bridge we've ever written," Rockwell says of a song that, like the intro to "Handgrenades," features more than a few sonic nods to Tom Morello while sounding distinctly like Write This Down. The collection of songs composes a whole that defies the band's youth. It sounds like the third or fourth album from seasoned professionals, not a debut. And while the album makes a statement of its own, what it's really about for Write This Down is the chance to travel, perform live, and meet people face to face, wherever they are. "We'll meet people who will take us into their houses, feed us, we're developing lifelong relationships," Rockwell says with awe. "You get to meet people doing this that you never would have met any other way." It's that senses of community, honesty and faithfulness that drives Write This Down. When it's all said and done, they want to be remembered for what mattered. "We're a band that gives it everything," Rockwell summarizes. "We try to make every show better than the last." |

Went to my friend's middle of nowhere town for Easter, ripped my jeans while skateboarding for the first time in like 5 years (\m/ punk ****ing rock), decided it was either no rip or whole rip and tore off my whole pant leg so one was of daisy-duke length, chilled outside for a long time, and being a major white boi with sensitive skin I now have one severely sunburnt leg and another that is still pretty pasty white.
|
that's punk!
This thread lacks any decent talk of hardcore music. :(
that's where your wrong, you probably just read like 2 pages and made this assumption. there's plenty of hardcore talk just read through it. |
Yeah we talk about lots of good **** in this thread **** off.
|
Went to a show (ETID, FYS, PBC, TUI, TWY....figure out the bands for yourselves mother****ers) but didn't actually go because i got in line and then everyone was told to leave because the show was already packed, and i kept screaming I JUST CLIMBED MOUNT BUMMER and everyone sat around in the parking lot not knowing where to go afterward, and i now consider the facebook message from the promoter telling people not to bother buying tickets online to be some sort sick april fool's joke even though i don't think it was.
|
hahahahhaha, i heard tui cancelled that date anyways.
|
yeah well a bunch of 14 year old sluts that were there for four year strong that showed up early to get their titties signed filled up the hall before i even got close to the doors and the only way i could take it out on them was a nice walk through the woods off campus and listening to give up the ghost ont he ride back.
so yeah i wouldn't know anything about TUI cancelling. I was there for Polar Bear Club anyway even though they probably only played a bunch of lame new **** + Parked In The Parking Lot which I would have used as an opportunity to lay on some dude's heads. |
How was PWN?
|
really wish fys wasn't on that tour.
|
Polar Bear Club only played 6 songs, because apparently their bass player broke his knee. So it's probably better that you saved $15 if that was the only reason you were going.

You were there? Yeah, the upside is that I now have 15 dollars to spend on Pissed Jeans in Cleveland in a few weeks, as well as SYG/CBK/Title Fight. |
CBK is still playing shows?
|
They played here like 4 months ago.
|
CBK is still playing shows?
yeah, somebody really ought to put them out of their misery. |
I thought the same thing when I saw them like 3 years ago, I can't imagine it now.
|
Cobert. Was that show in Edinboro?
|
You were there?
Yeah, I went with my brother. We were like 10 people away from the door when it sold out. Luckily I bought tickets ahead of time.
Cobert. Was that show in Edinboro?
Yes. |
