not that I heard of, eh i wasn't too mad. I have only heard a few of their main hits so no big loss.
At least you didn't have 8th row tickets for Zooma Tour :upset: I still haven't recovered :( |
Random thought I had, but is there any recorded history as to what happened to Townshend's SG after he tossed it into the crowd at Woodstock?
|
I saw the festival Express last night.
It was so awesome. |
Still haven't seen that, but at least I have the Grateful Dead movie to keep me occupied.
|
The Festival Express is awesome.
|
I really want that, but it's always like $30 and I currently have no money to spend on CD's/DVD's :upset:
|
I have to spend money on things for going back to school. Stupid school.

Wow, I feel sooo sorry for you :p I start on Monday. *double-sigh* |
As much as I'd like to be buying more cd's and a new acoustic guitar, I have to save my money for college. For like the next 50 years.
:upset: :upset: :upset: |
I am working full time so money is not an issue right now :-D

My library is pretty cool, I got Festival Express there. I think I enjoyed reading about it more though.
|
Man I was looking at that conversation a while back with themightyquinn or whatever his name was...I can't beleive I didn't use capitals back then. That guy was pretty stupid though, we have like half a page of talk about CSNY/members and he ends up leaving the thread entirely. Oh well, no big loss.
edit- and I basically listened to anything when I was a kid. Me, my brother, and this kid down the street would all put on my dads records and bounce around on the furniture in the basement singing along and stuff. I went through a period where I did "performances" of Billy Joel songs where I sang along with a little plastic microphone in front of my parents...I was pretty young though. Then when I got a little older I listened to a lot of Alanis Morrisette, which is always kind of odd to look back upon. Then I basically just listened to whatever was popular at the time until I discovered The Rolling Stones when I was in Grade 6. |

I've gotten a ton of sweet CDs from my library and ripped them to my computer. Frank Zappa's Freak Out!, The Smiths' Meat Is Murder, The Beatles' Revolver..good selection. |

i havent been on for a bit. stupid terrible college wireless internet.

Ok, I was listening to Yessongs, and I was thinking about how live songs can generally be longer than the studio version due to improvisation.
Then I realized the vocal parts are the same, and the instruments are what improvise and make the song longer. Like there'll be an extra few bars for the solo, but never for the verse. Have you guys ever heard a live song where the vocalist will make up lyrics on the spot and use those to improvise rather than instruments? Maybe I'm thinking too hard. |
Led Zeppelin. He adds a lot of "baby baby" "oh yeah!" and crap like that to every line. Especially in the whole lotta love medley.

Yea but I mean like entire lines, or verses that aren't in the original song. Has it ever been done? |
Led Zeppelin Whole Lotta Love Medely, actually. He adds lines from old blues songs and a few of his own that he never used in songs.
|
The End by the Doors live, so much free verse.
Acctually alot of Doors songs live. |

The Whole Lotta Love Medley on HTWWW is really cool, I haven't listened to it in forever. "I say hello marylou..." |

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but, does anyone know what amp jimmy page used during Zeppelin's early days?
|
It's a decent guess, but you would find more info in the offical led Zeppelin thread. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148902. Ask in there.

He used Fenders in Britain when they were first playing in clubs and such.
He switched to Marshalls when he went to America. I think. |
That sounds about right. On HTWWW it shows Marshall amps for sure. I thought he meant what kind of Marshall amp.

Yeah, I read somewhere that when he went to America, he wanted to upgrade to Marshall amps, but didn't have the money. He had 2 Fender amps. One was blown out and old and worn and the other was practically new. What he did was he took the speaker out of the old one and put it in the new case, and took the speaker in the new one and put it in the old one. He then traded in the "new" one for a Marshall and some extra gear because Fenders were worth more in America. Pretty sly, if you ask me. Edit: I'm uploading 2 songs for your listening pleasure. Livin' Thing - Electric Light Orchestra (I forgot to include this song on my write up) It's catchy as hell I swear. You'll have the line "I'm taking a dive" stuck in your head all day. I know I do now. :( Oh, and the chorus is pretty catchy. Grace - Jeff Buckley (I'm hooked on this guy.) |
I love ELO. There music is so great. :)
