ava1enzue1a 05-23-2011 07:32 PM

Venturing to say it - anyone know of Hecq? Pretty cool artist... If anyone were to ask, I'm not entirely sure what I'd recommend by him. A few songs for a possible idea of his overall sound - "Iso", "Cr.Blox", and "0011". That could be an oversimplification though, but nonetheless, there's a few songs to start off with.

Haz 05-23-2011 07:37 PM

looks interesting, i'll check it out when I go digging up some more IDM

http://blog.starwreck.com/2011/05/25/a-quick-update-and-directors-diary/

Haz 05-25-2011 09:37 AM

they should be on more soundtracks

think i've done this before but list of films with industrial/noise soundtracks -

The Living End
Tetsuo: The Iron Man
Gummo
The Mask of Sarnath
In the Shadow of the Sun
Johnny Yesno
964 Pinocchio
The Entity
Hideaway
Decoder
Hardware
Pearls Before Swine
Junk

Coil did the soundtrack for Hellraiser which wasn't commercial enough to be released

Bitchfork 05-26-2011 10:03 PM

idk if eraserhead counts because of dark ambient

liledman 05-27-2011 01:26 AM

love the soundtrack to eraserhead

Haz 05-27-2011 07:12 AM

Lynch does some nice audio work

most of my favourite dark ambient comes from video games. I think it would be cool if a group like Halo Manash or Zoviet France scored an RPG or something

Haz 05-27-2011 08:45 AM

EBM is such good drinking music

Raust 05-27-2011 01:10 PM

Good industrial is hard to find. Hate to sound like an old man, but I keep finding myself going back to classics such as SPK and Throbbing Gristle. They have the essential industrial sound to my ears. There older work doesn't rely on much synths and are just plain old dark and dirty. Does anyone know any similar artists/albums? I dont really consider Nine Inch Nails that industrial. And it seems that a lot of people who are into the genre are more than happy to reccomend them. Same with Ministry not really a fan of them they seem to rely heavely on a heavy metal aesthetic especially in there later work along with suffocating there music with cheesy ass synths.

Aakon_Keetreh 05-27-2011 03:37 PM

i love throbbing gristle

Raust 05-27-2011 04:29 PM
i love throbbing gristle
stretching for it a bit at the end with dark ambient and noise but try the earliest albums by these groups. to me new wave/synthpop based industrial is where it really took off

industrial metal kind of blows, Ministry is still a favourite of mine though (even though Jon hates them fuck you Jon :D). the first 3 albums are beautiful stuff. not a huge fan of NIN

Aakon_Keetreh 05-27-2011 11:25 PM

lol ministry is okay, i like NIN

good list haz

Haz 05-27-2011 11:28 PM

Aakon_Keetreh 05-27-2011 11:32 PM
