What's so hard about playing an instrument with no frets? you stick white tape under the strings where the frets would be and it's that simple. :amaze:

I hate to say it but consider yourself a genius/ver lucky/insane natural ability.

And wallow in the glory of your peers!

pukeboy66 03-20-2007 03:38 PM

I don't really want to get into why you'd hate to think that I'm a genius or lucky, but uh.. thanks?

TimJim 03-20-2007 03:41 PM

...yah?

Akira 03-20-2007 03:43 PM

I have heard it can take ages and ages to get a remotely pleasant bow tone.

It helps to have a good teacher, and a good bow as well :p

Polyamarous 03-20-2007 03:56 PM

Sure, but Ben was asking if he could teach himself the basics.
Which is nigh on impossible.

TimJim 03-20-2007 03:57 PM

indeed^

i tried once :upset:

I was just talking about the Bow tone...

Akira 03-20-2007 03:58 PM

Well if you have a painful tone the left hand doesn't matter.

pukeboy66 03-20-2007 03:59 PM

Sure, But it's not like it's impossible to craft a bearable tone.

Akira 03-20-2007 04:05 PM

But without any instruction it seems like it would be pretty hard. It is possible to teach yourself upright, that doesn't change the fact that with a teacher you are a lot less likely to kill your wrist.

Tryxx 03-20-2007 04:07 PM
You *still* have the Mod?
Yeah. I sort of decided to keep it, pain and all. At least until I find or build myself something better.
Damn you Texas.
Damn it, indeed.

I just put one of my workbenches together... time for round two. It's a pain in the *** in this heat.

TimJim 03-20-2007 04:08 PM

did you see my rep comment?

I'm not going to say that a teacher isn't a smart idea. I'm just saying it is possible to get along without one. It would certainly go alot smoother with one though.

On another note, am I counting wrong or is Birdland in 3/4?

Ting 03-20-2007 04:21 PM

It's in 4/4 is it not?

TimJim 03-20-2007 04:22 PM

i think it is^

pukeboy66 03-20-2007 04:23 PM
It's in 4/4 is it not?
It sounded like it could've been in 3/4 to me. *shrug*

Ting 03-20-2007 04:24 PM

I guess the beginning has a weird feel

pukeboy66 03-20-2007 04:26 PM
I guess the beginning has a weird feel
Yeah the beginning's what got me.

thelowsoundofbass 03-20-2007 04:40 PM

Isn't it mostly triplets in 4/4? Or is that teen town?

lowsound

pukeboy66 03-20-2007 04:53 PM

I think that's Teen Town.

Ting 03-20-2007 04:55 PM

In my civics class we have to make a political party and my partner and I made the PFM party. (Pure Fucking Metal Party...yes only as a joke, the class is stupid anyways) and our slogan is: "Music is like a box of chocolates, you get rid of the wrappers"

BenJammin 03-20-2007 05:16 PM

Pffbt. Ya'll have no faith in my musical ability.
