Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It looks like someone went into photoshop and replaced "Texas Ranger" with "Joe Strummer"
|
yea it does look like that. i stil havent got viva la joe or whatever its called.
|
When ya think about it, that thing seems faker that Tara Reid's left breast.
And now, I will explain how awesome From Here To Eternity is. I'll point out several awesome parts. On Complete Control, the entire song is f.ucking sweet, but the base part is the "total - C-O-N, CONTROL!" bit. It goes like this: Paul: Total.. Joe: WHAAA?!? Mick and Paul (loudly): C-O-N, CONTROL!! I will have more installments on its greatness. |
oh please post more installments of its greatness. that album is awesome, even though i dont own it.

Installment Deux
/turns on mp3 player, goes to teh Clash The Magnificent Seven The first three and a half minutes of the song are much like the Sandinista! version. After Joe goes "news flash, from the Clash!" then Topper and Paulo do the drumroll / cool bass part thing, it's just Topper going at it on the hi-hat and Paulo throwing in a little bass part. Now this is what Joe says: Well don't you stand there going over to sleep. I know this song is... 20 minuites long and I know this song is f.ucking long...... Well where is magnificence? They said it was out here somewhere, out on these roads. Just a liiiiiiitttle m-m-m-m-magn- SHUT UP YOU! HEY! Who you tryin' to kid?!?! Don't go lookin' for that, kid! Now it is just Paulo's bass and Joe's voice. This is the best part. Don't you know that magnificence is strictly out of order, and truly reserved for the upper class!? Why don't you get bored, go back to school, and don't ask for any of this magnificence! But Sir! Just a little bit! Oh Sir just a little bit?!?! It makes me feel like I'm ALIVE! mm-m-m-mm-m-m-m-maaaaag MAAAAAaAGNIFICENCE!! AAAAAAAAHH! |
hhahahah awesome. what is joe talking about though?
|
DUDE! Listen to what the song's about. The daily 9 to 5, same s'hit different day, and the oppression of the working class by greedy bastards.
Installment Three will either be White Man In Hammersmith or Straight to Hell. Straight to Hell is 7 minutes long and has tons of great parts, so I may save it for the final installment. |
Do white man first. I like it better.
|
Alright, I might do it tonite, although I think Straight to Hell is amazing.
|
both equally good songs. but at this moment in time Staight to Hell is sounding better.
|
Does anyone have a Clash cover album on slsk?
Oh, and I was listening to Jail Guitar Doors and at one point is sounds like it says Whale Guitar Doors. |
i dont use slsk. i thought you had all the clash albums?
|
All studio albums. I one day wish to have them all.
|
My favorite album is probably London Calling, with a few songs here and there off their other albums.
I also like the 101ers (pre-clash) and The Mescaleros. Strummer was amazing. |
i looked for you and tried to find lots of stuff with london calling tabs i couldnt get much. just google it allot. i just learned Clampdown on the bass. i love that bass line.
Mick is a very good guitarist, he doesn't get hardly the credit he deserves. He taught Paul how to play bass and arranged most of the music that the Clash did. If it wasn't for him I probably wouldn't be playing guitar now. |
yea. he taught paul the basics though. not how to right killer basslines (yes i used the word killer) i like pauls style he always does that walking stuff 55443322 that thingy (dont know the correct termonlogy, dont post in bass forum enough)

I have 2 clash books. Complete clash and The legend of Joe Strummer. In the legend of joe strummer, Joe says that Mick was a great tunesmith, and joe wrote the lyrics. Mick did a great job in the clash in terms of creating awsome powerful sounds and Pauls basslines are excellent |

paul did do alot of walking. I know waht you mean. Like climbing from the D to the E. |
Part of Career Op's
G-----------------6-6-7-7-8-8-9-9 D-----4-4-5-5-7-7---------------- A-5-5----------------------------- E--------------------------------- Paulo had tons of natural talent. |
i love paul. with my band i always try to do that walking stuff :D.
do "the clash" he/she said that Mick was a great tunesmith. one of the first publicity the clash got was when Mick tuned Pauls bass durning the middle of the set. |

I take alot of things like that from paul, and i take things from Mike Dirnt, He does alot of little fills. like hammer ons and pull offs and random fifth notes and octaves. heres some of pauls stuff from White Riot G-------------------------- D--55-33-22--------------- A------------55-33-22----- E----------------------5-3- Or listen to the bass in "Groovy Times" |
You sound like this guy who im'd me on aim, who was a Clash / Green Day whore.
Since Paulo had the notes painted on his fretboard, he thought "why not play a bunch of notes instead of the same gay root note?" That, and jump around onstage like Pete Townshend. |
