Yeah, Xentrix are ace aswell....but I'd say Sabbat nips the crown of 'em by a whisker.

DimebagDarrell 08-18-2004 06:08 AM

i need to hear more sabbat they do sound very very good

milano mosh 08-18-2004 11:47 AM

Hey, I haven't posted in here in this thread in a long time. Well, anyways has anyone heard the song A Torch to End All Torches by Thrice. Im not a big fan of the band, but anyways you can hear a lot of thrash influence in it. Especially in the intro. It sounds kinda like mop era metallica imo. Nothing amazing but you might in enjoy the riff.

DisposableHeroes 08-18-2004 01:48 PM

favourite lyrics? Promise Of Agony by Dark Angel is incredible, Gene Hoglan is a genius

AndrewHarris 08-18-2004 04:54 PM
Yeah, it's pretty much 'most popular' thrash ablums list, although none of them are really bad at all, which is surprising, seeing as the list was in a popular magazine.

ThrashMaster.... I've been listening to the first two Sabbat albums lately, and ****, they rooool! Their style just owns it up, and ALL of their songs a packed full of loads of headbanging riffs, probably more than most other albums i have heard. ****, i can't believe i have put off listening to them all this time. Oh well, better late than never i guess, eh?

If somebody hasn't heard Sabbat before, get their first two albums any way you can... You won't be disapointed.
theres was a huge article about the history of thrash, it was a pretty good one...i think the list is pretty good i think kea should be in there because its the first thrash album and its ****ing good haha, but they had alot of people talking about thrash

favorite lyrics....probably hook in mouth by megadeth

MC5 08-18-2004 06:13 PM
put Kreators Extreme Agressions on
Not Extreme aggresions,Endless pain or Terrible Certainty.
Is At The gates considerd thrash or death?

AndrewHarris 08-18-2004 06:45 PM

there part of the gothenburg sound, which imo is death metal with more thrash influence

FatalEnergy 08-18-2004 08:59 PM

Honestly I dont care what album, Kreator should just be on the list

RCA 08-18-2004 10:27 PM

Sodom should be on that list too, Persecution Mania was killer.

NP: Sodom - Nuclear Winter

FatalEnergy 08-18-2004 10:29 PM

I dont know if you could consider them thrash , but I ve been getting into Blind Guardian

what are some of there good albums

RCA 08-18-2004 10:30 PM

Nightfall In Middle Earth, and A Night At The Opera.

cool thanks, I know that they are more Power/speed metal, but I trust that everyone in here know what they are talking about

JMetallica 08-18-2004 10:36 PM

Since you're a thrash nigg., you probably want to listen to Blind Guardian's older albums, such as Tales From teh Twilight Hall. Their older stuff is more speed/power compared to A Night at teh Opera, which is more of a power metal 'opera' thing.

JMetallica 08-19-2004 03:46 AM

^^

Agreed there.

And speaking of power metal, could someone be so nice as to Bump the Power Metal Thread up? Everytime i do a search, i get one or another database error (which probably effects everyone).

Still on a Sabbat binge. :D

DimebagDarrell 08-19-2004 04:52 AM

abit of pointless slayer news for you :)

SLAYER's Next Studio Album To Land On INTERSCOPE?

Rick Rubin's American Recordings label — home to veteran Los Angeles thrashers SLAYER — is making the move from Island Def Jam to the Interscope side, according to Hits Daily Double.

SLAYER had previously announced that they were putting the recording sessions for their new album on hold while Rubin began negotiating a new deal with Universal Music Group (Island Def Jam's parent company). Rubin has worked with SLAYER since he produced the band's 1986 thrash classic "Reign in Blood", and his status could greatly affect the level of support American gives any new album.

"The minute (Rubin) gets that situated we'll continue the process of finishing the music," SLAYER frontman Tom Araya told The News Tribune last month.

SLAYER's upcoming DVD, "Reign in Blood Live: Still Reigning", is scheduled for release on September 28. The disc will feature a full performance of the "Reign in Blood" album by all original members of the veteran thrash metal outfit. The DVD, recorded on July 11 in Augusta, Maine, will have an approximate 75-minute running time and will retail for $14.98.

Ratmevilempire 08-19-2004 10:36 AM

To the guy who was talkin about the thrash in guitar world that was a year ago.More importantly slayer and Priest were ****in awesome.Slayer was good and tom hit the high note on angel of death.anyways hewres the setlist even though the order isn't 100%

disciple
war ensemble
bloodline
mandatory suicide
seasons in the abyss
post mortem
reign in blood
south of heaven
angel of death
there are probably a few songs that i forget but oh well.
Priest was really good too and I'll get the exact setlist soon because one of my friends wrote it down.

Ratmevilempire 08-19-2004 10:43 AM

they played dead skin mask too.

DisposableHeroes 08-19-2004 10:44 AM

no Hell Awaits?

Ratmevilempire 08-19-2004 11:02 AM

not that I can remember,I had to miss a couple minutes of the set so i could go buy stuff but i dont remember.I was more upset that they didnt play chemical warfare.Priest played a really good set though I'll just tell you what I remember. electric eye
metal gods
the ripper
painkiller
beyond the realms of death
you got another thing comin
diamonds and rust
living after midnight
breaking the law
and once again a couple i dont remember.

DisposableHeroes 08-19-2004 01:07 PM

so Tom still hits the high notes?

GraveRobbersINC 08-19-2004 02:10 PM

From what I've seen/heard, it's a good day if he can.
