cbmartinez 01-12-2009 12:17 AM
There's a record on that blog by Teenage Panzerkorps, get that. They sound a bit like Joy Division/The Fall and have GREAT melodies!
Yeah that record is amazing. My two favourite Beefheart records are Doc at the Radar Station and Ice Cream For Crow. You'd love them.
thanks for the recc

Neoteric 01-12-2009 04:12 AM
i think the world is really lacking bands that sound like joy division/the fall
At least they take their sound from good bands.
thanks for the recc
recommendation only has one c

just thought i would mention that

catharsis 01-12-2009 07:15 AM

Liars tend to satisfy my the fall/joy division needs. when the fall and joy division don't.

Merriweather Post Pavillion has been making me listen to Feels and Strawberry Jam again. Which is good.

Yeah, Same.

the new Animal Collective is optimistic. A breath of fresh air. A reminder that complexity doesn't always equate to somberness.

Me too. I'm always letdown when it ends. I never like their other stuff as much as when that album's on.

pixiesfanyo 01-13-2009 02:50 PM

John Frusciante - The Empyrean

very different. solos abound. pretty cool.

asdf 01-13-2009 09:53 PM

Franz Nicolay - Major General

Do not love it as much as World/Inferno, Anti-Social Music or Guignol, but probably more than The Hold Steady, who I never gave a real chance.

A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders

I've heard this whole album quite a few times at a friend's house, but this is my first time really just sitting down and listening to it.

catharsis 01-13-2009 09:56 PM

jordaan mason - mantra songs

recently saw his group live. very very good off-beat folk.

Iai 01-14-2009 05:08 PM

Tchaikovsky's 6th.

The first album/recording/musical thing I'm prepared to give 5 stars to in over two years.

pixiesfanyo 01-14-2009 05:32 PM

i accidentally downloaded their discography and was like "wtf i don't want all of this"

then i listened to it and then kept the discography forever.

also digging: Durutti Column - Another Setting

CrowMan7 01-14-2009 07:21 PM

Sticking to what I know and it pleases me everytime:
Damien Rice- "9"
John Butler Trio-"Grand National"
MGMT- "Oracular Spectacular"
Scott Weiland- "Happy in Galoshes" (surprisingly addicting and he is going down the indie route. Here is a jam I found of him and his band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBTamM9kNRQ

Pixies-"Doolittle"
Radiohed-"In Rainbow"

Any suggestions for new music?

I hit that on What.cd because I know when people catch wind of diction's review they're gonna be all over it.

Not even that interested in listening, I just want the ratio.

pixiesfanyo 01-15-2009 12:41 PM
