For those of you who do not know, here is how the listening parties work: First albums are nominated by the people of MX, until we have 10. Once we have ten, the person coordinating the party creates a poll. Once a fair amount of votes are in and there's a clear winner, it is announced what album we will be listening to, and it is uploaded to Yousendit.com, so everyone has the ability to acquire it. On a decided date (decided based upon the availability of various MXers) everyone enters an AIM chat room named "mxindie."
Simplified: We in the C.R. thread will choose an album to listen to together while in an AIM chat.

When?

Glitterati 08-19-2005 07:40 PM
Alice Cooper was my first concert. Great live act, he had his whip and his makeup and the works. He had big balloons that he threw up and popped, they had fake money with his face on them.
Sweet

It's gonna be interesting seeing the crowd at that show. Every goth/punker/metalhead in town will be there.

RockAndRoll 08-19-2005 08:25 PM

I've never really been a big alice cooper fan but I will say the man puts on a hell of a show. Being front row at one of his concerts is an awful lot of fun.

I just remembered today is my mx birthday

Good god almighty, why has the CR thread fallen to the second page???

magicbus 08-19-2005 11:48 PM

Quiet night here in the ol' CR Saloon.

Right now I'm diggin' "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" and wishing I had some weed.

My buddy is constantly raving about how he loves that song. Speaking of Pink Floyd, I bought Obscured by Clouds and WYWH yesterday, and listened to Obscured by Clouds last night. I think it may have become my favourite Floyd album now. :)

Have you listened to WYWH? That's my favorite Floyd album.

Although it's so hard to choose :upset:
Good god almighty, why has the CR thread fallen to the second page???
Back in the good ol' days I remember bumping it from page 8 and then seeing it fall to page 8 again before I had to bump it again. back when it was only RockandRoll, Badmoon, DVG and I.

My favorite Pink Floyd album is Animals. Although it really is hard to choose :upset:

Oh ya, WYWH was my favourite album. Obscured by Clouds just eclipsed it.

That must've been hell. :upset:
My favorite Pink Floyd album is Animals. Although it really is hard to choose :upset:
It took me a while to choose between Obscured By Clouds and Animals. There were a bunch of Floyd albums in the 2 for $25 section and I had to get WYWH. But I heard Animals is based on the book Animal Farm. So, having not read that, I made my decision.

magicbus 08-20-2005 12:57 AM

Personally, I like Obscured By Clouds better than Animals, but that's just me. I know a lot of people like Animals too.

Illmatic 08-20-2005 01:02 AM

WYWH = best Floyd album

Leper 08-20-2005 01:06 AM

Could someone recommend some King Crimson songs to me? I hear so much about them, and I figure it's high time I got into them.

Get 'In The Court Of The Crimson King' first (album) - Then go onto some other albums of theirs such as 'Red'

ManicMusician 08-20-2005 06:30 AM

As an abum whole id say my favourite from Pink Floyd is either the Wall or DSOTM cose i grew up with my dad constantly listenin to them all the way thru (He is the unofficial number 1 fan)
But Animals and even Division Bell have some of my favourite tracks...
Best live album would have to be Pulse

Once I burned Obscured By Clouds and More onto one one disc thought it wasn't that good so I just gave it to my friends. (Along with Animals)

Best Floyd Album = Do I really have to say?

It grows on you like mushrooms on a pile of shit except when the sun comes up it doesn't die. I used to think WYWH was the best too but PATGOD just kept growing and growing on me. (IT'S STILL GROWING!!!) Now it's not only my favorite Floyd album it's also my favorite Rock album. (but I'm sure everyone in here already knew that)

Were Only In it For the Money by Frank Zappa is AMAZING and it's about hating hippies!!!! (irony++++)

Are we still doing the "Open your tiny mind to other music you god **** Metal Head!" thread.

NP: Dark Star - Grateful Dead

Edit: This is page 1666.

I always thought it was interesting that London almost burned down to the ground that year... those puritans must have been like "Well, can't say I did't tell thee"

There used to be a kid at my school with crazy long hair who always hung out with all of the hippies, and one day I got talking to him and he was like "God I hate hippies" (kidding of course) Of course I figured out he is a huge Zappa fan, I guess, to the point where he has Zappa hair, facial hair, the same anti-drug policies as Zappa, and spent his study halls playing Zappa solos on ukulele. Funny guy, we used to have jam sessions in that study hall, ukulele, guitar, bass, miniamps, organ (it was in the room randomly) and harmonica, of course. We always had a problem getting a vocalist, though

Well anyway, the more I learn about Zappa, the more this kid's strange behaviors make sense

Does anyone else have crazy study halls?
