Praxis is sort of a funk-metal supergroup. Buckethead, Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrell, Brain, and Bootsy Collins. Unfortunately, I don't actually have any of their albums. I've streamed all their stuff, and it's amazing, but it's really hard to find an actual copy. I'm working on torrenting Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis), which is probably their best album. I have a couple great songs I could send you, but otherwise I'll let you know when I have the full album. Until then, I can send you some Buckethead or something, as I have all his albums. EDIT: Oh, damn. That wasn't directed at me. |

I'm on lowspeed, so that might take a while. go to www.pandora.com and create a channel from artist "haemoth" |
So...dearest Stronghold.
Whatever do you do when you have drummer's block?
Do you just not want to drum as much nowadays? Or having a hard time thinking of something new? |

Does anyone else like Gerling?
|
I can't decide if I like Protest The Hero or not. Hmm... I guess I'll have to listen to them again to make an opinion.

I'm having a hard time thinking of anything >< For lessons, my instructor's been burning me the Turn It Up And Lay It Down CDs, and (obviously) he wants me to groove to the songs. But when I try, absolutely nothing comes to me. Like. Absolutely nothing at all. |

I haven't played my drums in a week. :upset:
This is turning out to be a terrible time for my playing. I've been putting alot of time into my guitar playing though, which has been getting consistently better. That's a positive. May be joining a band soon as a guitarist. |

hey whats up...the names is josh and i've been playing drums for a year. i'm 19...
some days i think i'm getting better, but fu**...i don't have speed for the ghost peddle.. i can get the beats down... if i lesten to it over and over again..only with one kick.. but what should i do about double bass, whats the excersise you all use? oh another question does a drummer progress further practiceing by himself or with a band....??? |
Hey there Josh, Im a pandabear!!
I've lived in Wisconsin when i was younger, I lived i a place called Appleton. Do you know it? But with doublekick jsut remember to start up slowly and build ypu your control and speed by starting with lower tempos. That's the only way to do it. And a drummer progeresses (right word?) by both practising by himself and playing with a band. I say a drummer should first practise by himself until he can reach a level where he can keep a steady beat and then go on with a band. |
oh another question does a drummer progress further practiceing by himself or with a band....???
moreso with a band. Except in my case, where my skill is so far ahead of my bandmates that I never advance. |
oh yeah. Yesterday during band practise I cracked my Evans coated g1. It lasted almost a good 7 months. Anyway, i had my old remo emperor x lying around and I slapped it on, and i have to admit. It makes my snare sounds better than 1 ply evans g1! I was suprised how good my ****ty pearl export snare sounded with the emperor x on it. And the head is used and very old too!
But anyway, when i go get new heads for my toms I'm gonna pick up a cs or evans powercenter or what ever they are called. I think I also should get a new bassreso since my current has a small crack in it....i dropped a mic on the hole when micing drums...the hole was homemade and not anywhere near round so it got ****ed up. FAWK! I'm gonna be so friggen poor after all the heads. And I'm turning 18 in two weeks so I need drinking money. Damnit! I better get alot of birthday money. |
sexual harassment panda from the land of forgotten mascots, yes i know where appleton is...evil..evil place with stuck up people...
and thanks for correnting me...makes me feel smart for some reason.. so how long has everyone been playing... |
I think a drummer progresses much more by practicing by himself.
I call practicing with a band "rehearsing", so there is a cognitive distinction between the two. Rehearsing is just learning songs with a group of people. Practicing is skill-building and learning how to play your instrument. |

We moved there when i was 4 and then back to finland when i was 6. I don't remember too much about the place. Except that there was a Toys 'r' Us there and every month i got some money and i spent it on a Batman figure or something related to batman. And I've hjad the drums for 5 years, took lessons for half a year and then quit the drums for a few yaers. Now I've really been playing drums again 2½-3 years. I also play in three active bands. One hardcore band, one rock band and one jam/cover/rock band. Life is good. |
dam you must be very active...i only play in one band and thats not even a band a bunch of guys recording things and sending it over the net...
like i said appleton is a evil....evil place... |
dam you must be very active...i only play in one band and thats not even a band a bunch of guys recording things and sending it over the net...
like i said appleton is a evil....evil place...
I wish i could be more active than I am at the moment! What makes appleton a evil place? Don't they just milk cows, hunt deer, go fishing and drink a lot of beer there? Edit: And I also play the guitar in a few bands. |

Go out and by earplugs or isolation headphones or whatever earprotection, do it now! And i don't remember seeing any black people there when I lived there. I remember a few asian families that had really hot girls:D And you must visit Santa park, it is the only way you will keep your faith in the real santa! :D |

When it's gone it is gone. With proper earprotection you will capable of hearing sounds just as good as without earplugs. Stupid appletoners. And santa totally lives there! But it's your choise, but i don't see why getting one if there is no real need for one. Get a practise pad instead! And of course hell know your name! just remember to give santa park a ring before you get there and tell them what you think is a cool present and telll your name!:D |
