No idea Futuro.

Well like, it's crazy how you knew his root note was an E, unless he told you or something.

Maybe I'm just missing something though.
Nvm.
oh ok, yeah I can sing notes from memory.

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 08:52 PM

ahh Okay.
I guess that's what I meant.

When I said perfect pitch, you can find hear a note, and know what it is...

That's tight, I'm learning that when I do steel drums, that and soloing.
I'm **** at both.

Loyton 10-25-2006 08:54 PM

Stronghold, I have a confession.

I never really respected alot of electronic music for the simple fact that its not real musicians, just techies programming midi.... but, I just recently got over that, and I like alot of electronic music now.

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 08:59 PM

Yeah!.
Most of the music I listen to is Electronic Music/Programmed/ No Drums.

Loyton 10-25-2006 09:02 PM

Wanna name some bands and strike a lilttle electronic discussion here?

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 09:09 PM

Yeah.

Amon Tobin
Squarepusher
Aphex Twin
DJ Shadow
LTJ Bukem

Along with a bunch of Hip Hop groups...

Those are what I listen to Electronically.
And than this Kronos group.
Who does the soundtrack to Requiem for a dream.

Utorrent is downloading the City of God soundtrack as well...
That soundtrack would be awesome.

Futuro 10-25-2006 09:13 PM

City of God is a fantastic movie. A+ Material.

So is Requiem.

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 09:15 PM

Haha.
Damn Straight
..

Just saw Requiem Saturday night, and fell inlove.
We have it apparantly.

I don't think my mom's seen it, or else she would have been at mad at me for watching it.
Haha at naked Marlon Waynes in that movie.

I love City of God as well.

Good stuff man, just started really getting into that kind of thing.

Electric Requiem 10-25-2006 09:21 PM

Requiem is awesome, excellent cinematography.

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 09:23 PM

It is awesome Electric.

That's cool TTSNB.
that's the music I sorta grew up on, stuff like that.

Yeah, I feel that alot of that stuff can have as much atmosphere as say: a good black metal band, for example. Also some very cool, impossible to play drum parts, haha. Have you heard some of the old 70s industrial like Throbbing Gristle and NON?

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 09:27 PM

Negative...

I don't think I listen to the same Electric music you listen to ?

anyways.
I'mma get to bed.
Good Night Mx.

Sync0pation 10-25-2006 09:35 PM

Damn Lime you gotta hit me up with some of that ish sometime. Night.

We_Love_Lime 10-25-2006 10:10 PM
I listen to Squarepusher?
oH oKAY.

When you said 70s Industrial.
I thought you meant like

German Electric Death Metal?
.
But I havn't heard the people you mentioned.
I'll look into them than I guess.
Thanks.

If you don't get the music, then fine, but at least say it in an intelligent way. You probably haven't heard any of the good black metal bands anyway.

Maggot Dream 10-25-2006 10:16 PM

Shpongle is probably my favorite electronica project. Hallucinogen and Astral Projection are great too.

Oh, and Talvin Singh. He's different, but still awesome.

The really good bands tend to create a certain atmosphere that is very powerful. Not only is this extremely difficult to achieve, it sounds very good when done well.

By atmosphere, I mean a certain heavy feeling or mood. In some bands, it is more of a depressive feeling, in some others it is more pure anger.

Basically what I'm getting to is: Black metal aims to visualize certain emotions in the corse of music.

Thats only bands not the majority of the genre , right?

Doesnt all music attempt to do that?

Panopticon 10-25-2006 10:26 PM

White riot....you should really stop acting like your above everybody. It's really annoying, because your not.

And it also most likely explains why you have such low rep.
Thats only bands not the majority of the genre , right?

Exactly, most music does. Like ALL genres, most black metal bands aren't very good. It's very difficult to produce good music in any genre; it takes a great of skill which most people don't have or haven't acquired.

no , stupid.

I just can't fathom why anyone would like such a aural repulsive type of music.

Other than they fanboyism and f.ag cheesy image , I am trying to understand why anyone would like it.

There has to be some really good redeeming qualities to overcome the bad points.

As of yet im not convinced , maybe im dumb but I cant comprehend any good quality of the music

Tell me more about these amazing atmospheres that can be created by good black metal bands. Im going to honestly be opened minded here. Is the main thing because you cant get similiar atmospheres in other types of music or something?

Maggot Dream 10-25-2006 10:41 PM
no , stupid.

Have you actually listened to enough of the music to make that judgement?

TTTSNB 10-25-2006 10:42 PM

No, particularly, other types of music, especially classical, electronic music have been successful in creating certain similar atmiospheres. I think the real thing is that I enjoy the particular sound of the music in addition to the atmosphere. Also, black metal often uses folk elements, which I find very interesting.

Name 5 black metal bands you have heard more than 3 songs from.

White Riot! 10-25-2006 10:50 PM

Immortal
Emporer
Burzum
Azaghal
Venom?

Panopticon 10-25-2006 10:52 PM

so now that you've named 5 bands that you've heard...name the total number of black metal bands in existence (i'll let you estimate)

TTTSNB 10-25-2006 10:55 PM
Immortal
Emporer
Burzum
Azaghal

Pretty much the most well-known black metal bands with the exception of Azaghal. I certainly wouldn't call Emperor, Burzum, Venom terrible, they aren't even non-melodic or awful sounding by most anyone's standard's, with the exception of you. I can understand why one wouldn't like these bands, but they aren't noise, or as you put it "an aurally repulsive genre of music"

A few off the top of my head, lots I'm forgetting...

Modeselektor
Meat Beat Manifesto
Dj Hype
Krust
General Midi
8 bit weapon
Luke Vibert
Black SUn Empire
Saru
Bill Laswell

Um no real order there. Im forgetting lots of my favorites :(
AH! are we going to talk about black metal now? I dig blackmetal. Not any of the hybrid crap either. Ever heard of haemoth tttsnb?

Maggot Dream 10-25-2006 10:59 PM

Dude, Bill Laswell is amazing. Have you heard Praxis?

If not, get some now. It'll blow you away.

Sunshine 10-25-2006 10:59 PM

So...dearest Stronghold.

Whatever do you do when you have drummer's block?
