i miss the rep system. it was nice to get some after doing something worthwhile. haha.

The rep system was great. You could neg rep people for having different musical tastes than you. Especially when someone can neg someone 400 points or so, that's fun. Also, making multiple mx accounts, repping one until it can do some damage and the neg repping people twice as much . I think my abusing of it was part of the reason they took it away :(

Nice.... I had stars the first go around with the rep system, then I took my break and came back to no stars, and no respect in the CR thread. |

So do I. Just before it was taken away, I had enough to have stars, but I hadn't been here long enough. If only they had kept it longer :shakingfist: |

What about B0nz0? He was a Father of Time at one point.

Has anyone noticed how great of a song "Death of a Clown" by the Kinks is?
It's not even that I wouldn't do any drugs ever. I just hate the idea of getting addicted to anything, or anything that would degenerate my mind or body in anyway. Everyone says acid/LSD supposedly does nothing to you negatively, especially in small doses, but I guess the little goody-freak in me doesn't believe it. I think the absolute hardest part about all of it is getting them and/or not letting my parents know about them. Not being able to lie well doesn't help. I believe I said on here I basically had half a beer for the first time on New Year's Eve, just alone at home, and I forgot to pour the rest out and throw it away, and I had it kind of behind this thing in my bathroom, and my mom found it and asked me. I told her it wasn't mine, but I'm sure she thinks it was mine, and I feel horrible because I think she now thinks I really drink, though she hasn't acted different or anything. My stepdad is also the District Attorney of Nash County, which doesn't help. I know I would slightly confuzzled sea lion out at the last minute anyway and not buy/use them, and just throw them out in a cold sweat.
The biggest risk in life is to taking no risks at all.....Being nervous always eventully leads to negative things, you just have to think to yourself that everything can and will go right and she/he won't know a damn thing and even if you get caught are you that horribly scared of your own parents? I just don't understand how anyone could be that scared to take such a small risk. I don't know I guess it's the rebel within me but I just feel taking risks can lead to the great just as much as it can lead to the bad. Why not take a roll of the dice every once in awhile? It's not just drugs either, it sounds to me that you have trouble making a-lot of your own personal life choices...for example do you truly believe in god because you were told so and were grown to beieve in such things or did you really consider the possiblity that when you die there is absoultly nothing but your body sitting in the wet ground while maggots eat the remains out of your cold dead skull? Some people are scared of the risk of even thinking of such questions but what's there to lose? Your faith? I could be very wrong but you sound like one of these scared people. I apologize if I'm guessing wrong and/or questioning such things about you. (after all I don't actualy know you) I'm just saying you shouldn't let other people feed you your own personal choices and allow yourself to not think for yourself, not take risks, and miss out on a potential benefit.
This leads me to another question I've been wanting to ask this thread, we don't often cross the discussion of religion but I was just curious to know what's everyone's opinion on the topic of god. What do you really believe in? I was born and raised Catholic and lost faith around 12-13. I am currently really interested in the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama (aka "The Budda") I just like that it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology and focuses on meditation. (which I'm currently trying to do twice a day) I'm really curious to hear everyone's input on the topic, I mean we have been a stong community for almost 2 years now! (ani. March 16 or 17) |
did you really consider the possiblity that when you die there is absoultly nothing but your body sitting in the wet ground while maggots eat the remains out of your cold dead skull?
How very graphic. I was brought up going to church every sunday and since around the age of 14 I've been questioning what I really believe in regards to God and whatnot. For the last 3 years or so I've basically only gone to church when forced to (christmas eve and easter) because I haven't considered it an important part of my life. Religion is a very touchy subject with me. There are some times in which I really want to believe in god, and other times that I think it's a big waste of time. It's a very confusing concept to me though, almost to a point where I'm at a loss for words trying to describe how I feel about it. I've been trying to get back into going to church lately though. Not because I fear the "rath of god" or anything like that. But I know that it makes my family happy when I go to church (most of my family never miss a church service) and there's something about going to a church service that makes me feel good about myself after. Also, I can't see myself getting into any other religions, and I don't want to be an Atheist because it just seems very depressing to me to believe in nothing at all. |
I wish I could tell my parents what I think about the whole topic, it's not like they'd think less of me or anything it's just I think it would saden my father and other Mexican family members whom I consider are very strong in their faiths.
You know there are degrees of Atheism, "stong atheists" believe when you die there is nothing and God cannot exist(which is what you're discribing as Atheism), "weak atheists" are a little more open minded in the way they don't believe in God but think there is no possible way to tell if there is a god(s). (this is often called Agnostic) There is a difference in not believing and believing 'god' just cannot exist. It sounds to me you're wanting to be in the group of Agnostic. |

Oh really I didn't know that. Yeah then, I guess I'd consider myself Agnostic at the moment. One thing I kind of like about going to church, despite my wavering faith, is that I can sit back and observe with an open mind. Like how people react to the sermons and everything. I don't like our minister however. I think she's a bit of a bitch, but whatever.

It's not about the bands you like, it's about me needing to give you up to defend my original post :p
You had the avatar and were given it, so you -- a Father of Time.
What do you really believe in?
I've been strongly Christian (Catholic specifically) since I was 14. I've read a variety of books reguarding the Christian religion -- some explanatory, some apolegetic. These books have done a lot for me in helping defend my religion and help learn about it. As far as church goes, my church is very boring. I do not enjoy going that often but will at least twice a month. There's not a subject that I keep in mind more, or refer back to whenever I need to then my religion. |

I'll be watchin', punk. |
I don't have a set religion, but I generally have a Taoist perspective on life. I'm really into shamanism too. I just believe that the human ego is what makes humans imperfect and our bodies are the physical form of that imperfection. In other words, our egos tie us down to our physical self. That's why I like psychedelic drugs, they seperate you from your ego and anything becomes possible, you are no longer tied down to what is normally thought of as possible/normal/acceptable etc. That's also what causes bad trips, by the way - not letting go of your ego. Once humans learn to let go of all their game playing, their minds will be free to leave their bodies at will. Or maybe physical forms will cease to exist. That would be wonderful. Except for the loss of boobies.

I'm Quaker by both birth and personal belief. I detest all forms of physical warfare, and believe very firmly in the saying that there's that of God in everyone. I believe in God, but I think the Bible is an interprative text that shouldn't be read word for word. That pretty much sums up my religious viewpoint. I'm agnostic, though I followed christianity very strongly when I was younger.
Today in school we were talking about what happens to bodies after being in a coffin for a certain amount of time. You basically just turn into a gooey mess and are unable to decompose. When I die, I wanna be cremated and have my ashes spread all over the world. NP: The Beatles - Blackbird |

I was kinda born and raised Catholic...I was baptised, and went to church when I was very young. After my grandma died (I was around five), it was kind of a hassle for my family, so we stopped going. Nowadays, I find that religion is very flawed and hypocritical in some cases. I'm not saying I completely denounce Jesus, I'm just saying I don't think I've found the following that's right for me. I guess what I'm trying to say is....what I've found works best for me is to try to be kind to others, and basically be a good person my own way. If that makes sense. np: Lou Reed - Sally Can't Dance |

Np: Stormy Monday (Cream's version from the Royal Albert Hall)
That's pretty cool. I agree with your points (peace, Bible is interpretive...) I'm a member of the Presbyterian church, and confirmed. I never really go though. The minister there is a really great guy and cool to talk with. I had a discussion with him about religion and about how certain faiths kind of push beliefs on you like if you're not Christian you'll burn in hell and all that stuff... He's completely against pushing beliefs on people which is cool. So I kind of like my church's beliefs even if I rarely attend church. 10:00 is too early for me on a weekend. No, no, no. He just left one day. Mightyquinn left because we talked about CSNY too much. I was born and raised Catholic but when I turned 14, I just quit going to church. Except Christmas and Easter. Except Christmas this year, my family went on Christmas Eve and I was working. :-/ |
