and derek trucks is amazing.
I'm always much more amazed by Warren Haynes.

Walrus Gumboot 08-17-2005 04:03 PM

I wrote on some college thing that I play Ukulele (soprano and baritone) Trombone, Harmonica, Bass, Guitar and Bagpipes. The bagpipes were a complete lie of course

Warren Haynes is great. Love his tone, and the way he plays. Also the expressions he makes are great :)

He seems to look like he is crying.

I just heard a version of Purple Haze done by an orchestra

Well, that kinda defeats the purpose of the song.

I can't stand those. Not his particularly, but anyone's. I think it's kind of silly.

New avatar ++

I was telling my friend that I was going to see ABB, and her mom said they were awful. Just terrible. Upon asking her why she answered "they didn't interact with the audience AT ALL."

She also said that Pink Floyd was "not what it was cracked up to be" and The Who" were "OK, but not worth the money" and that she thought the Grateful Dead's shows were "overrated"

/would kill to go to any of those three

EDIT: Speaking of amazing shows I missed, I thought Phil Lesh's description of the Grateful Dead at Woodtock was hilarious. The stage was like a giant ship being blown forward by the wind closer and closer through the mud, and at one point Bob Wier got electrocuted

Glitterati 08-17-2005 05:24 PM
You probably do play more than me, but I love playing it.

So also, I'm gonna see the Allman Brothers on Saturday
/joins trend
/shakes fist in jealousy

ATM 08-17-2005 05:31 PM

I might go see Jethro Tull.

That's an awesome book. There were many funny parts, some disturbing parts (ie. Pigpen and Janis Joplin gettin' it on...eww), and parts where I almost cried :(

I cried when his dad died, and almost when jerry died, but my eyes were irritated, so I made it look like I just put in eyedrops

/might go to an anti-war protest down the road
/listens to "Fortunate Son"

I heard the new Paul McCartney song today. It's pretty good.

Depends. Some of the tickets are going for rediculous amounts of money, which I would'nt pay

They're a good live show from what I've heard, IF you can afford it.

np: The Allman Brothers Band - You Don't Love Me. I'm really getting into these guys

Lunch 08-17-2005 07:59 PM

Aren't tickets for the Stones like $300? I would never pay that to see them.

magicfingers 08-17-2005 08:00 PM

Ha, $300 dollars? Only a Rolling Stones nut would pay that much to see them.

BludgeonySteve 08-17-2005 08:02 PM

I could buy all of their albums for that, probably.

Or rich baby boomers...just like the stones
I could buy all of their albums for that, probably.
Yea, but why would you?

BludgeonySteve 08-17-2005 08:09 PM

I would actually buy about 5 of them and then buy some Rush and Bob Dylan. Because I need albums buy them more than the rolling stones...

I was just pointing out that that money would be better spent on other things.

White_heat 08-17-2005 08:10 PM

$300?!?!?!!? bull****, Kind of wierd how you could see them for free back when they where actually good.

magicfingers 08-17-2005 08:11 PM

If I had $300 to spend on CDs... gee this is hard considering that's $300 more than I've ever really had to spend on CDs... I'm not sure what I'd spend it on. Butnot the Rolling stones or tickets to see them.

Lunch 08-17-2005 08:13 PM

I'm in a music slump right now. What I mean is that my wanted CD list isn't overflowing, in fact, I don't really have a wanted list right now.

White_heat 08-17-2005 08:14 PM

I think Ive spent about $1500 on Cds in the past 2 years..... I spend all my money on that, and guitar stuff.
