These last few pages have been fucking hilarious. Too bad I went to Guitar Center.
What's funny is he closes out his last post with "Go suck on something." THAT was low, and made me laugh hysterically. |
In all honesty, I can say that I've never heard a crueler or more ignorant thing to say to anyone
You need to go to public school. Carter Beauford is good, but I don't think he's astounding. Edit: Guys in a time like this, I think we should all remember that it's just the interweb. And I'd also like to congratulate those who took place in the group-owning. It's nice to have one of them every now and then. Just kidding. (But really.) |
You know guys, I got him to settle down, and you continued flaming...I'm disapointed.
I didn't mean don't joke, I meant don't be a complete dick when it's uncalled for. I know that sometimes you have to fight fire with fire though.
I don't think any one was serious, I mean I love Metallica and have massive (Okay not massive but some...) respect for Cliff Burton. But c'mon he died a funny way. Maybe I'm just insensitive. |
You need to go to public school.
Carter Beauford is good, but I don't think he's astounding.
Of course I have heard worst stuff :p I just kind of got on a rant there. I don't know, whenever I hear people talk bad about Vietnam veterans or soldiers of any kind it makes me rage. Beauford's cymbaling, especially live, is crazy, he does so many things at once I honestly can't keep up. It sounds like he has about six limbs to me when I listen, but then again I don't drum (yet), so I guess I can't truly understand exactly how good he is. |
beauford's the best thing about that band....which isn't saying much. he's good though.
dennis chambers could show him a thing or 5. mmm dennis chambers. i also like weezer's drummer a lot. especiall on pinkerton. /response to post about modern drummers. |
My friend has a Dvd of his that I watched one day. Again it was definitely good, but I didn't die from amazement. Plus DMB is annoying anyway so the music turns me off the drumming.
Freud: Chambers can show most drummers a couple things. |

No, by tomorrow I'll be joking about Bonham choking on his own vomit. I really was just thinking about that Vietnam vet thing while I was reading all that stuff, and it kind of made me get the urge to rant. But then again I'm overly sensitive sometimes, so just ignore me. |

Ya, I can see the Vietnam thing I guess but I'm so carefree I just laugh everything off. Hm, Weezers drummer you say? I've never really heard anything that impressed me but Weezer is/was a great band back then so I wouldn't doubt it. The guy from SOAD seems like he could bust out more stuff then he plays. |
I actually am usually really, really laid-back, like to the extreme degree, but I go through phases like this where I guess I get it all out of my system once in a very while.
I have Weezer's first album, I'm not really into it, alt/punk isn't really my genre, but I can see they are a talented band. Haven't heard any SOAD. |
I posted the thing about the Vietnam vet, and I don't regret it one bit. The guy didn't seem one bit intelligent, and his only post in this thread insulted The Doors.
I fuking hate the doors, or any other draft dodging SOB
Now, if he presented great opinions and maybe presented some insight, I wouldn't have said something like that, but he just insulted and flamed those who were merely trying to make their living playing music and were against the war. |
Everyone loves a bit of flaming now and then, but I never take it too far, unlike some people.
Mr. X was just asking for trouble. np: The Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn! |

The show rocked, but at the time I only knew so many songs from Weezer :upset: I dont see any extraordinary talent in them, but they make great songs. |
Hmmm.... that wasn't the time. That guy was kind of moronic, and the time I remember he just said he disagreed. Maybe it was another thread? Point is, I forgot my point. So... carry on.
|
I dont see any extraordinary talent in them, but they make great songs.
There's nothing wrong with making great catchy music with not much instrumental talent. As long as all of your songs don't sound the same (I'm lookin at you AC/DC) |
Hmmm.... that wasn't the time. That guy was kind of moronic, and the time I remember he just said he disagreed. Maybe it was another thread? Point is, I forgot my point.
 I just searched the entire R&M forum and those were the only posts involving Vietnam vets.
I like Weezer. I went to see them with the Foo Fighters back in October. And Weezer just makes good feel good music. |

Oh boy thats funny, I remember my dad saying that about Jimi Hendrix. But then I told him he got discharged and he acted like he never said that.

I think flamming is taken too far sometimes in this thread. I remember a while ago someone who was obviously a noob asked if someone could reccomend him some good who albums because all he had heard was "Teenage Wastland" and he got flammed for about a page before someone helped him. I mean joke all you want about it, I mean it is funny but the guy was obviously new to the band and was asking for help to further his knowlage about it.
|
And Weezer just makes good feel good music.
We are all on druuugs. But for the most part, yeah. |
We are all on druuugs.
But for the most part, yeah.
wtf drugs its love you idiot... :P Rivers Cumo or what not sounds like a prick in all interviews I read about him he comes across as a Chris Martian who is less pompous. |
And Weezer just makes good feel good music.
They do. They make very feel good music. |
We are all on druuugs.
No, we are all in looove. Duhh. Censorship, ftw.
The spirit of pwnage continues. Sorry BigTrav.
Yeah man, sorry. The CR thread will answer questions and guide. Unless users act like Mr. X, the flames are done for. These also go along with the unspoken "No more Lemon Song vs Achilles" and "RNR and Badmoon are the mom and dad of the thread" rules. |
MR Blue Sky: Yeah guys, Classic Rock should be a helping community!
Me: Yeah! Lunch: Neato! RNR: Cool Beans Livewired: I'm in! Schyma: Me too! Robo: Me three, ha! Phallus: Me too four! All: Oh you kidder :) |
i always take arguments and flaming too far. check the whole rap argument in the community thread. i just enjoy it way too much.
weezer's actually really talented. rivers' guitar playing has hints of technicality and every so often flourishes. the drummers' fills on pinkerton are just so energetic and perfect. dmv, awww. you picked like, one of their worst songs. i never thought i'd hear anyone calling them feel-good music though. pinkerton and the blue album are pure depression. the green album lost that closeness and intimacy and maladroit lacked in good songs. haha. make believe is pretty good though, in my opinion. edit: pinkfreud: me five.... :( |
pinkfreud: me five.... :(
I'm always last :'( |
Wow. That was a lot of reading. The only good thing that came out of this thread while I was at work was "I beat you Phallus."
Can't You Hear Me Knocking is an insanely great song, I love how it opens Blow. I like Bonham more than Moon.
Rivers Cumo or what not sounds like a prick in all interviews I read about him he comes across as a Chris Martian who is less pompous.
I think the only celebrities that don't come off as pricks these days are those who are new and still enamored with showbusiness, and those who are trying way too hard to make everyone like them. There's nothing wrong with taking the Dylan/Cobain approach to interviews and dodging every single question. What's up with Weezer? We're All On Drugs? Hashpipe? I think something's going on here. And keep in mind there's a difference between flaming noobs and flaming jerks. Not all noobs are jerks. Not all jerks are noobs. |

I wonder what they will experience over the horizon. Find out on the next episode of Classic Rock! *plays theme song* CLASSSIIC RAWWWK |
Sorry gus. I wrote those things then I added on the names. :(
;-* The corny 80's cartoon show esque voices I used in my head for thta made the joke. |
Its funny how the "regulars" have changed

Along with the Med thing. Ya spam post I just had to show I liked that. Chris Martian is a prick because he's always like "I don't know why any one would like Coldplay we aren't that great" I just want to slap him. Rivers is more of a "I haven't had sex for 2 years, so I wrote a really bad album. Aren't I hip?" type prick. |
The corny 80's cartoon show esque voices I used in my head for thta made the joke.
I was thinking of something along the lines of Pokemon.
Its funny how the "regulars" have changed
We labeled ourselves in generations. Let's see if we can do this without fogetting anyone. Help me out guys. |
hey. make believe really isnt that bad. definitely a step above the green album and maladroit.
|
hey. make believe really isnt that bad. definitely a step above the green album and maladroit.
I think it was way below Green Album, I mean ya the Green Album isn't anything special but Make Believe was one of the worst albums of the year, not to mention Beverly Hills being the most annoying song of the year (No Black Eye Pea's included). Maladroit :S was just horrible too. Lepermessiah is a reg me thinks. Robo.... I'm trying to think of 05ers from the start of last year. Hmm.. thats all I got for now. |

Well, first let's try to compile a list of all the regulars.
Haha i would be in the previous generation, back when you were MYR and rarely posted in here.
I've been tr00 to dis fred since may 04 nukka! Nah, I'm kidding you. I stopped posting on MX from Aug04 to about Oct04. |

Nobody mentions me.
I'm off. I'm tired. |
seriously? i hate the green album. its so impersonal. doesnt help that so many people only know them based on the strength of "hash pipe" and "island in the sun."
I kind of like Island in the sun. It's all: :). Ya know? But they do have some crap songs. |
Well, first let's try to compile a list of all the regulars.
Illmatic, Schyma, Woodstock, jpj, Livewired, MBS, Lepermessiah, Robo, JonG, PinkFreud, Badmoon, Thickasabrick, EMH, Lunch, Magicbus, RNR, Walrus, RockAndRoll, Pigsonthewing Thats all the people I can think of right now. And thats all the people in my 8 months or whatever I've been here I remember from this thread. Heh, the only songs I can really remember off Green Album are Hash Pipe and Island in the Sun.... :S |
its not terrible. but its so far from the quality they had in the beginning.
