Same RAM speed. besides, I have 12 GB of the stuff so its all good even if it was a notch down.
12GB of ram is ri-dinky-diculous.

What a waste of money.

My system is entirely over the top. i7 920 at 3.6, 12GB RAM, Radeon HD5870, 2TB of hard drives, Raptor system drive, Blu-Ray drive, connected to a £200 outboard DAC, which powers a £300 amp which powers £400 speakers, and the monitor screen is a 32" 1080p TV.

Its pretty sweet.

AG 05-10-2010 04:39 AM

Yep, completely over the top.

I hope you do more than just browse MX.

Sad But True 05-10-2010 04:59 AM

How do you people afford that kind of shit?

I reckon if I stopped drinking I might be able to afford something like that, but, I really like drinking, so I'll make do.

AG 05-10-2010 05:21 AM

I don't drink really, I don't go out on nights out/clubbing/etc.

That's how I can afford stuff.

EDIT:

Also just stole Rossetta Stone, gonna improve my french.

Also, what's the lod's thought of blacksmithing?

This. I enjoy good cider but I really don't get drunk very often at all, so my money stays in my pocket on nights out.

Sad But True 05-10-2010 06:11 AM

I drank out of a square-shaped vase once. It made a mess.

AG 05-10-2010 07:31 AM

I have several square shaped whiskey glasses...

Sup live journal.

So last Friday I was out chillin' with my bros. And this chick mentioned how a good friend of hers had developed a brain tumour from blowing her nose too hard.

Now that's the kind of yarn you'd spin to a bunch of Primary school kids. Not to people in their mid-late 20's.
So being the intelligent sceptics that we are, we quickly assessed her statements, classified them as a good chance of being BS, and then partook in a massive example of collective mockery.

Girl got upset.
I guess that point would've been a good chance for her to rethink her previous statement, and perhaps admit that she may have gotten the word 'tumour' mistaken for 'headache' or 'nosebleed'.
Or, if possible, provide proof.
But unfortunately she not only stood by her claims but further backed it up by mentioning that "her friend is the only confirmed medical case where it has happened".

We thought; Great, in that case it'll be even easier for us to search and find confirmation of. But we never did get any proof.

She said that we were being arseholes because her friend "nearly died".

Anyhoo, a day later the girl has a non-specific rant on her Facebook about how she doesn't like when people pay sh!t on her.
But having witnessed (and even partaken in) the said sh!t layering. My opinion is that, in that occasion, it was fully deserved.

I would like to think that if someone caught me out telling BS stories, then I would accept the mockery that it brings.

i noticed you didnt list harddrive speeds. hopefully you at least got 10k rpm drives. that's most likely where your bottleneck will be, not the processor and ram speeds lol

at this point I assumed you meant "snorting too much coke" by that, what does that tell you

Sad But True 05-10-2010 08:25 AM

Haha those girly 'non-specific rants' that people insist on putting on facebook. It's so inane.

"Suchand Such thinks it's really mean when people blah blah whine bore"

awww, tissue?

Especially with that amount of bullshi. Blowing her nose? Wtf.
do you have ADHD
Nah, just looking at apprenticeship programs that would fill my particular creative needs, and my desire to work with my hands.

Blacksmithing, Carpentry, Joinery, Drystone Walling, Forestry. They're all on my list of stuff to look into.

Raptor system drive was listed, as in 10K Raptor 74GB. The other 2 drives are 7200RPM 1TB Caviar Greens.

Also, no point having fast drives as storage, and theres barely any point to having fast drives for gaming either, since RAM and VRAM holds almost all the data during gameplay. HDD speed only affects how fast the RAM can be populated, IE initial loading times.

And thanks to win7's superfetch and improved RAM handling, thats not an issue. Most games utilize a lot of pre-emptive streaming now too, so again, HDD speeds = Not a huge factor in bottlenecking except for when you're loading the OS, which is what the Raptor drive is for.

I'd rather that than live on some shitty dead-end job for an appalling hourly wage.

Living in mediocrity is downright miserable.

Aren't you bored of that life? haven't you been doing it for like 6 years now or something?

Don't you find it embarrassing to be into your 20's and only slightly beyond the stage when you left school?

Not particularly, no. I worked for 3 years to afford the things I've wanted and do the things I've wanted, and now I'm at uni studying to become a teacher. I couldn't give a flying monkey shit how old I am when I do it; I get to spend 3-4 yeas more enjoying my life rather than settling down into a job and a life that I don't want just yet.

Squirrel 05-10-2010 01:36 PM

So you're on a PGCE course?

The nature of your reaction indicates a very passionate feeling about this. i'm guessing I hit the nail on the head and you post is an attempt at jazzing up the fact that, correct me if i'm wrong, you flunked uni 2 or 3 times, hence why you have "3 or 4 more years of doing it" and why you "worked to afford the things you wanted".

This translates to: worked as a till moneky or something until you reapplied or whatever.

You don't sound like you're on a teaching course, given that when you are you quickly note you don't study to be a teacher, you train to be one, and you do not, under any circumstances, live like a student while you're training cause they're unbelievably demanding. Much more so than "settling down into a job", cause they dominate your entire life, all day, every day, and every night.

So yeah i'm calling bullpoop you're totally jazzing that **** up.

JCBitB 05-10-2010 02:01 PM

Squirrel sounds like the type to lean over and tell you "you're doing it wrong" at a public urinal...

Squirrel 05-10-2010 02:29 PM

Well its kinda relevant when comparing to someone whos taken like 6 years to get even reomtely near getting a degree or sth, and trying to jaaz up the fact they may sort of want to possibly think about maybe doing teaching, by saying theyre "studying for teaching"

Squirrel 05-10-2010 02:29 PM

it was a ****ing insanely good pwn, on so many levels
