Dried Muffin Remnants 07-18-2005 01:38 PM

Echoes is my favorite song high. However, normally my favorite Floyd song is probably Time.

moaner 07-18-2005 05:03 PM
I haven't heard most of OBC (though I love the title track and Childhood's End is my second favorite Floyd song after Echoes) but SOS is pretty cool. The title track is a bit iffy, but Let There Be More Light and especially Set The Controls are winners for sure.

On the alb um i like it, and live it just blows me away.

moaner 07-18-2005 05:03 PM
Yeah, I think Echoes is a little too ambitious.
you clearly have nowhere enar enough time on your hands.

Riva 07-18-2005 05:05 PM

Obscured By Clouds is fantastic! I wish I had the CDs, so listening to them would be easier. They got their wear when I drove my mum's car for a few weeks, which has a tape player. :p I think I'll play one now, actually.

I generally learn shorter stuff. I just finished learning Time and The Wind Cries Mary, and right now I'm exorcising my desire to play fast stuff by learning Liberty, by Steve Vai. Someday, I'll learn Echoes. When I get a guitar with enough frets.

Heretic! No one must deny the power of Echoes!

(I haven't attempted to learn it either). :)

ATM 07-18-2005 07:23 PM

I attempted SOYCD. That's fun to play.

Thor 07-18-2005 07:41 PM

Man, The Wall has me hooked yet again. I just can't get over how awesome that album is.

Personally I think it is one of their worse, but thats just me.

Otherside 07-18-2005 08:25 PM

I really like the idea of the album, althought it isn't my favorite Floyd cd.

In The Flesh?, Comfortably Numb and Goodbye Bluesky are my favorites on this one.

guitarhero 24 07-18-2005 08:56 PM

Roger Waters??

I know after he left pink floyd, Waters had a few solo albums. Does anyone know if they were any good?

Riva 07-18-2005 09:13 PM

I'm quite fond of Amused To Death, actually.
Personally I think it is one of their worse, but thats just me.
yeah, i agree. its quite an average album.
I attempted SOYCD. That's fun to play.
Again, I can play part onne the way he does live (missing out the 3rd solo).

i should learn that 3rd solo sometime.

Can you explain to me why? I think it is probably the best rock album ever made at the moment.

what a load of rubbish.

IF they want to reform, they know very well they could sell out any venue they wanted to.

Dave's already madse it quite clear he doesn't want to do an album or a tour, so what's the problem? 1000 signatures on the internet won't make a difference.
Can you explain to me why? I think it is probably the best rock album ever made at the moment.
It's horribly repetitive. it feels like 1/3 of the album is based around the same riff.

Rounder 07-19-2005 09:24 AM
Can you explain to me why? I think it is probably the best rock album ever made at the moment.
The wall was ok, and of course Comfy Numb is on there, but come on, its not one of the best floyd albums, much less a best rock album ever. Most floyd records are better than the wall. Animals, Wish you were here, are better imo.
hell Echoes is better.

DeusExMachina 07-19-2005 09:51 AM
I attempted SOYCD. That's fun to play.
Yeah, I tried to learn it, but got bored and gave up at about the 5 minute mark. I should try it again.

I don't know why everyone is bashing the Wall so much. I love it. Is it overrated, and not the best? Sure. But it's still a good album, says I.

what if they had a couple of million signatures. dave also kept denying a reunion with roger was practicly impossible, and it happened
and it's just to get your name on that petition, any true floyd fan would do it.
Floyd obviously knows they can sell out anything. but I get the feelign Dave doesnt really know how popular he is. If a huge petition is signed, it might refresh his ideas just a bit.

WheepingGuitar39 07-19-2005 10:21 AM

The Wall is an amazing album. It's out of this world.

guitarhero 24 07-19-2005 10:45 AM

If anyone could send me some of Waters's solo works, it would be greatly appreciated. Or maybe someone could compress all his albums into a folder and put it on YouSendIt.com and put a link up for all of us to download.

All of his albums? Good luck with that one.

magicbus 07-19-2005 11:16 AM

I can play the entire SOYCD 1-5 all the way through, but I can't do 6-9, cause that slide solo is killer.

Who gives a shit? Petitions are weak. They never solve anything.

BludgeonySteve 07-19-2005 12:49 PM

Well maybe if more people knew about it, they would sign it. That's kind of how crap like that works.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-19-2005 01:03 PM

I think they know they have fans. At least 35 million of them, if you consider how many copies of DSOTM were sold. I doubt a petition would solve anything, but i guess it's a nice gesture.

/signs

That solo is also amazing.

WheepingGuitar39 07-19-2005 05:19 PM

Who said it was to SOLVE anything
There arent any problems right now, I dont need to see why anything should be solved.
Just a huge number of signatures under a message like "We love you Pink Floyd, please come back!" might just influence their decisions a little bit.
Most of the signatures are young people like I who have never had the chance to see Pink Floyd live.

Petitions CAN solve something if everyone sticks by it and signs it. But mostly everyone is either too stupid or lazy.

Giaeo you comments are very stupid, I've seen very good Petitions for extremely deserving causes, and they do make a difference.
Petitions are there to show that poeple CARE. It seems that alot of people these days have forgotten what Caring means.

What about a petition to install a speed bump at the end of your street because cars go fast and many children are playing there? Noooo of course not, "Who gives a ****? Petitions are weak. They never solve anything.".

I posted it for the people who care and thought it would be interesting. Those of you who dont care, shut up and ignore it.

WheepingGuitar39 07-19-2005 05:21 PM

What do you guys think of the song Yet Another Movie? from A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
I really like the solo at 3:50

1. Fuck speed bumps, I speed over them anyway.
2. There is a difference between that kind of petition, and one bitching at PF to tour.

Besides im pretty sure the band knows people want them to tour, seeing all the money that was offered to them to tour the US. Most of the band members are busy with their owns lives and projects, and they dont want to risk antagonizing each other all over again thanks to a long tour.

Some petitions work(like the california recall), but the PF one is a waste of time.

clown_phobia 07-19-2005 05:54 PM

I signed the petition... I'd love it if they toured, but I do understand they have no reason to. The only reason they'd tour is for money,a nd they're loaded with that anyway...

They dislike each other anyway...

Hey man, it's for fun, and not b*tching at PF, just showing them a list
Are you Pink Floyd? No, so don't speak for them and Shut the F* up
If your not happy with the Petition, go cry somewhere else.
I'm fully aware that the petition will 99.5% have no effect on Pink Floyd, but it's just a petition, quit whining like a little baby.
You are clearly an idiot with only stupid comments like speeding over a speed bump, you must have a sh*t box car, no one with a nice car would speed over one.
I just posted that because last time a couple of people showed some interest in a petition, after all it involves pink floyd and most of us would like to see them back, for some of us it's just high hopes, for us true floyd fans.

So for those of you who have nothing good to say, just shut up and dont post blablabla this blablabla that that's stupid this is stupid i dont like this i dont like that. Quit being so freakin negative all the time
Someone who listens to Pink Floyd regularly would never be a negative person.

Lunch 07-19-2005 07:38 PM

You should calm down a little bit and don't take people saying something "negative" about your petition as an attack on your life.

WheepingGuitar39 07-19-2005 07:40 PM

yea.. i know :(
They have no reason what so ever to tour except for their fans.
They are very rich men who like to give alot to charity. It could be possible they did a short tour for charity but, i dont know.

I kind of felt a cold between them at Live 8, i mean the hug and all was nice but.. I'm sure they are nowhere near their friendship during the Meddle, Dark Side and Wish You Were Here years.
Very sad to see the best group of all time like this
But I just sit here and enjoy all their past work. Hoping one day for future material but hey
How many of us actually thought , 1 year ago, Pink Floyd would be playing WITH Roger Waters on a new Live Aid (Live 8).
Anything is possible
