Destroy All Girls 03-11-2011 07:43 AM

seems to be a few bands getting their songs heard in soundtracks to major motion pictures

feav233 03-11-2011 09:35 AM
Too bad I missed out on Mogwai last sunday because of illness
that would have been a cool show to go to

feav233 03-11-2011 12:49 PM

new grails LP came in the mail today, pretty excited about that

Nepenthe 03-11-2011 05:35 PM

honestly post rock seems to be dying out as far as mainstream popularity is concerned. it kinda peaked 2 or 3 years ago in that regard.

Rev 03-11-2011 09:47 PM

Anyone know of any sweet underground post-metal bands?

Moon Flavor 03-12-2011 09:45 AM

@feav233:
Yeah, I'm sure I've missed something.. But noone wanted to go with me and I was a little sick, so..

@Nepenthe:
Hm, maybe we're late to the "hype" here overseas. I reckon that happens with trends sometimes, a kind of delay.

@TheReverend724:
I don't know if you'd categorize them as Post-"Metal" (most of the time they're rather mellow), but you could give Daturah a listen. They're from Frankfurt and have released two albums. I don't know where you can find their releases in the USA, but you can listen to some of their tracks on their myspace-page:

Rev 03-12-2011 06:25 PM

sweet man, I'll check them out

I downloaded it but haven't listened to it yet. I probably won't even bother then.

Well hopefully this new ASIWYFA won't let me down...

Ventriloquist 03-15-2011 11:37 AM

people who don't like the new asiywfa will be slain by the post-god

Nepenthe 03-15-2011 04:03 PM

listened to a pretty good band called 'the for carnation' (i don't get it) today, super moody shit. reminds me of a post rock bohren & der club of gore and perdition city-era ulver. think a guy from slint is in the group. good stuff.

angelmk 03-17-2011 03:55 PM

^^ the for carnation are excellent, i realy enjoyed their s/t

Nepenthe 03-24-2011 04:29 PM

(trying to not let this thread die)

started randomly listening to omega massif again the other day. forgot that they are actually pretty good. haven't listened to them in years.

heard a new band called sterling and they were pretty good. kinda like psychedelic post metal almost. really good keyboard player, which is different.

Txus 03-24-2011 08:28 PM

omega massif were good, I don't know what the fuck happaned to them though

they should release more shit

angelmk 04-06-2011 06:22 PM

new This Will Destroy You is very good

shortz 04-06-2011 06:25 PM

My friend told me to check them out, I've just never bothered to, perhaps I shall jump on ze bandwagon

And Omega Massif are pretty awesome, I just downloaded it recently and was like "wtf why am I only hearing about this band now!?"

Been getting a shit load of European Post-Metal lately, so good.

i've been enjoying few great post metal releases recently, check Light Bearer, great band, i was totaly blown away by their debut Lapsus. also check new Grayceon, superb sound. Møn, not a post metal, but great post rock with lots of orchestral soundings

Nepenthe 04-06-2011 06:45 PM

not a big grayceon fan

listened to the album my city of ghosts by note yesterday they're pretty good. kinda reminds me of we followed tigers or ASIWYFA but more post less rock.

shortz 04-06-2011 07:07 PM

^ ASIWYFA are in the studio no?

Yeah I've seen the Light Bearer album floating around the 'net. I got a shit load of post-metal though so I gotta sort through those first before I check out any new stuff. But I'll put it on my neverending list of bands/albums to download.

Anyone dig Koloss?

angelmk 04-06-2011 07:14 PM

^^ i downloaded Koloss - End Of The Chayot some time ago, but never actually listened it, is it good ?

shortz 04-06-2011 07:17 PM

I like it, nothing groundbreaking but it's good in its own right

DBlitz 04-06-2011 07:28 PM

listened to Pelican - The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw for the first few times within the past week. enjoyed it quite a bit.

angelmk 04-07-2011 04:47 AM

^^ yeah, that's very good album, their debut 'Australasia' is also excellent

Txus 04-07-2011 10:38 AM

australasia is their best

xMalcolmXx 04-07-2011 10:44 AM

i like all of their stuff about the same except for the new one. havent really listened to that too much.

DBlitz 04-07-2011 10:47 AM

Ventriloquist 04-07-2011 10:59 AM
