lunch998 04-16-2005 10:49 AM

Shazzam 04-16-2005 11:32 AM

I just watched the In the Flesh dvd with Waters...

I hated it. The guitarist was literally the funniest/annoying looking man I have ever seen. He looked like some American Eagle model that had a really bad twitching problem, and trying to play guitar. His playing was semi-ok, but it got to a point where I just couldn't watch him anymore. He also butchered the CN solo.

magicbus 04-16-2005 11:37 AM
In a way he died.

Just not in the real way.
That's why I put quotation marks around dead. :p

Shazzam 04-16-2005 11:48 AM

Also, anyone who hasn't seen the Documentary of DSOTM, go buy it right away. It's the best DVD I own. It shows alot of clips of Gilmour in his own studio playing all the songs on DS, and it also interviews in depth all of the members. You'll learn alot by watching it.

That's a very cool DVD. I like all the studio shots that shows how they made all the effects. Especially the part with On The Run, and the synth they used. Very cool.

classicrockielzpfvh 04-16-2005 12:45 PM

well the drummer (i forgot his name for some reason) just released a book about the whole life of the band (not sure if it includes individual members)... but its supposedly really good and interesting

I was thinking of buying it, but it'll have to wait. Ummagumma is first.
wtf was I doing writing that Syd Barrett was dead? :upset:

I disagree with solely downloading albums as well...I download songs quite regularly to see if I like a band or not, and I download the odd album as well, but I'll normally buy a CD that I like which I've downloaded as well. With Dream Theater I downloaded Scenes From A Memory as it's a concept album, so I didn't think just downloading the odd song off it would work. When I realised it was excellent I bought the album.
same here..only bootlegs and single songs of a band(not usualy)...

skynyrd73 04-16-2005 04:04 PM

yea the dsoftm documentary was amazing......anyone else here the rumors about a floyd reunion tour!?!?!....Rojer Waters sais he is gettin old and just wants to make some more money...and recnenly they sold some of theyre like "equiptment"....but kept the majority of it....i would do anyhting...to go to there concert if they reunited....

slowhand 04-16-2005 05:30 PM

magicbus 04-16-2005 06:03 PM

That's a pretty cool drawing. I like the lost souls.

Otherside 04-16-2005 06:14 PM

They're all pretty cool imo.

rippa32 04-16-2005 07:33 PM
Yeah, it's generally more "out there" as Gilmour said, and a lot of it also far more psychedlic than their later work. Their first two albums in particular, both of which featured Syd Barrett in one capactity or another fall into this category, but after his death very little that they did could really be thought of as psychedelic in my opinion.
What I actually meant was the album is very bluesy (except one of these days and echoes). Whereas Dark Side isnt.

pigonthewing82 04-17-2005 04:02 PM

I just got a very good Syd bootleg. Its one of his last preformances with Pink Floyd, and they play a 3.5 min version of Jugband Blues. Its really good.

can you yousendit. I'd love to see it, although I may have it. I have a vid of Jugband Blues where rog and rick take out the bassoon and trumpets. Syd looks really lost in it.

FockerTheLopper 04-17-2005 06:12 PM

Did Gilmour ever go solo?

MalcolmYoungRock 04-17-2005 06:19 PM
Did Gilmour ever go solo?
Yes.

White Goodman 04-17-2005 06:25 PM

His solo work wasn't any close to being as good as his work with Pink Floyd.

"Revolution 9" isn't really a jam its just various tape recordings by Lennon. You mean like "Intersteller Overdrive"?

Sort of, what I mean is its so like trippy its really intense. Like the keybord is making effects as are the wind instruments, guitar, and kazoo.

Just use my favorite word..... "psychedelic". :)

I guess that does make the whole process a lot easier, I was just trying to compare it to a song everybody knew. Its really good the whole cd is just a bunch of Pink Floyd's stuff with Syd rare stuff, and a bunch of live stuff.
