KingOfSka 08-24-2005 01:23 PM

Posers of the punk/ska scene, they wear the clothes and go to all the shows, but they don't like the music.

RIP Ian Curtis 08-24-2005 01:23 PM

someone who is always ahead of the trends and supercool 100% of the time. This time last year he would have been a metrosexual, in 1995 he would have been a punk, at the moment he's moving out of emo into odd, experimentalish rock like The Mars Volta and Coheed and Cambria.

Skidmark Steve 08-24-2005 01:24 PM

fair enough

Angry Balled Fists! 08-24-2005 01:25 PM
your obviously not a scenester dan, because you haven't dropped the rancid from your name. I mean rancid are so uncool even I pretend I don't like them. Where do I put them for you to see?
You will probably laugh at most of my favourite bands:

Rancid
NoFx
Taking Back Sunday
Fall Out Boy
Refused
Thrice

Coheed & Cambria
Hot Cross
Lars Frederiksen and the bastards

Operation ivy
Rise Against
From First To Last
Dillinger Escape Plan
AFI
Alexisonfire
Transplants

Skidmark Steve 08-24-2005 01:28 PM

yea i did laugh at most

Angry Balled Fists! 08-24-2005 01:31 PM

Why ?

Which ?

KingOfSka 08-24-2005 01:31 PM

I like Rancid too, I can't help but love Red Hot Moon, such a good song to skank to.

Seriously though, how cool is Tim Armstrong? He's like, a punk legend.

Skidmark Steve 08-24-2005 01:35 PM

yea i was watching him at warped tour with the transplants. he was pretty cool (how corny of me)

funny thread:
Green day

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey guys , i used to think green day were like one of the heaviest punk bands ever ...or at least that billie joe armstrong was kickass..anyway while watching the boulevard of broken dreams video i really liked the solo..and i thought that armstrong was doing it...because the gestures and the moves he did seemed as if it was him doing the solo...then when i downloaded an AOL session for the song they had a second guitarist..which did all the **** hard work! i only saw him recently in the wake me up when september ends video...and u can barely see his face..does this mean were being tricked or something?

hahahaha i couldnt stop laughing. poor guy got tortured in that thread.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-24-2005 01:36 PM

They got banned anyway...

Yeah I met him at Warped Tour, I was in the Big D pit and my friend Jill was like "Holy shit, it's Tim Armstrong!" So I went over and got an autograph on the back of this flyer some Rudie gave to me.

"My friend Chris, punks not dead. Rancid Punx"

Angry Balled Fists! 08-24-2005 01:40 PM

Is that what he said ?

I love him.

Skidmark Steve 08-24-2005 01:41 PM

KingOfSka 08-24-2005 01:41 PM

KingOfSka 08-24-2005 02:15 PM

And see if there are any band blurbs you can do in the thread stickied at the top of the page.

Thanks and goodnight.

Am I the only one who thinks that this whole semi-political skate-punk melodicore thing that's getting huge kinda sucks?

Where do you live?

It's been huge here and is now dying out.

AndreTheHyena 08-24-2005 04:20 PM
i can't figure what you mean exactly. give examples.
Rise Against, Strike Anywhere, etc...

I don't really know enough bands to enforce my point, I'm just old and grumpy.

And where I live isn't pertinent, it's just that I don't really follow the "current" scene very well because I'm just old and grumpy.

(r)evolution 08-24-2005 04:22 PM

I like strike anywhere

i think they're just catching alot of crappy fans. i think they're good, i love rise against and i like strike anywhere, and i know their fan base is expanding into groups of people who are dumb fashion kids and mainstream idiots who don't know that music has words that mean anything.

but i don't hold that against them. and i like the music, but i can understand if you don't dig it as much as i do.

AndreTheHyena 08-24-2005 04:30 PM

I like some bands that are similar to them, such as Good Riddance, who will always be one of my favorite bands.

I dunno, it just reminds me of the boring late-90's Epitaph skate-punk stuff that I used to obsess over, I guess.

I think the fact that it exists in the first place is a tragedy.

Anxious 08-24-2005 05:09 PM

Who wants to do some vocals for me?
Am I the only one who thinks that this whole semi-political skate-punk melodicore thing that's getting huge kinda sucks?
It's basically my favourite genre, so I think you're wrong. Wrong like incest.

Pete 08-24-2005 05:16 PM
Who wants to do some vocals for me?
For what?

cheeser_1 08-24-2005 05:18 PM
Wrong like incest.
so it feels good, but oh-so naughty?

Pete 08-24-2005 05:20 PM
so it feels good, but oh-so naughty?
No, it's best performed without lubricants and/or contraceptives.
