Why can't we just close this conversation? Huh? Nobody really cares if he stole Stairway from another song cause you can't prove that. And as jpj says, there are PLENTY of songs sounding the same way. But does anyone argue about them? NO. Everybody know by now that Jimmy Page has stolen a few songs. So can you PLEASE stop arguing about it cause nobody really cares!
Yeah, let's just let it go. Everyone here has their own opinion on Zeppelin, save for the odd n00b named LedZepRox123 coming in and saying "omg u guyz suk zepplin roooolz!" Jefferson Airplane are cool. |
Wow this is a fing long thread
My internet is so amazingly fast right now, I just told Magicbus before he went to sleep.
I'm downloading as much as I can because chances are once my computer goes off, the fast internet goes away too. I'm downloading Jeff Buckley's Grace, then Eric Clapton Unplugged, then I'll probably download Greendale.
That's a really good album |
That's a really good album
123. As is Love & Theft, the last album Dylan put out. I've had it for a while, and I've just recently gotten into it. Just thought I'd let everyone know  |
My friend just bought that album.
Greendale is an amazing alum though. |

CLASSIC ROoock!!!
No need to post that twice. Really, no need to post it once. |
I actually don't think Taurus sounds much like Stairway, so I wouldn't argue that Page stole it.
|
I just downloaded that Spirit album and Unplugged. Looking forward to hearing both of them. Love and Theft is okay. I like Time Out of Mind, Dylan's 2nd most recent album a lot better.
|
I didn't get to download Greendale, I had to go to sleep, and now my internet is back at normal speed. I want to switch ISP's so badly, but my parents won't let me.
|
That write-up on Johnny Cash was cool.

I think it's more of the mood and style than what is actually played. To me, it sounds similar and doesn't at all at the same time. |

Whether stolen or not, people have a tendency to go too hard on Page. Keep in mind, all blues artists steal from older work. unfortunuatley, Zeppelin is so popular, they seem like the only ones to the people who like a few songs, and have heard stories about the work they have pirated. |
I can't stop listening to Grand Funk Railroad. The album I have just might be in my top 10 of all time, it's that fun to listen too. I think I may do a thread on them tonight.

Trust me, Ray. You'd like it.

I've been meaning to get into GFR for a while, what type of music do they play? np: For What It's Worth |
They do amazing hard rock, with high energy riffs, vocal harmonies, and great solos.
Aha, I always thought the lyrics were "Man on the Run." Great song, but thats about all I've heard by Wings. Any recommendations?
Most of the band on the run album is great: band on the run jet bluebird mrs vandebilt picasso's last words plus more. its a great album |
I just bought an album called "Driving Guitars" by the Ventures. 29 songs, 70 plus minutes, for five whole bucks. The Ventures fargin' rule. While their original stuff is awesome, the covers are classic too.
Also, I picked up a CSN dvd! Called "Long Time Coming". I couldn't believe it, I was so happy. It's got a bunch of live clips. David Crosby is a really cool guy, despite all the..weirdness. Highlights include a clip of them with Neil Young, playing the ending of "Down by the River". It cuts in just in time to hear all of them singing together in harmony, and Crosby looks as happy as a clam. Also, there's a version of "Find the Cost of Freedom", done in different harmony then the album version. They could rework that song in so many ways. The newest performance on the Dvd, though, is from the late eighties, I think. Plus, there's lost footage of them doing "Marrakesh Express" at Woodstock. |

I haven't heard a lot of them. I've heard I'm Your Captain which is good apart from the shameless 4 minutes or so of crap at the end. |
Speaking of Woodstock.......This Monday will be the 36th aniversery of it. I will wear my new Woodstock shirt for 3 days starting Monday.
Edit: This also means I will take back my old Woodstock avatar. *disclaims any supposed theivery* |
Yay for giant music festivals in general! Huzzah!
|
Just got back from Steve Miller :D Awesome show! He played a bunch of blues with George Thorogood in the middle of the show, and of course all radio hits you could ask for. Joseph Wooten (Victor Wooten's brother) was the keyboardist and during Fly Like an Eagle he rapped, it was surprisingly very cool.
During the blues part of the show with George they played a song called Love Ramba, and it sounded almost exactly like Black Magic Woman. They played Stranger Blues by Elmore James which has the same riff as Ray Charles'" What'd I Say", I thought that was interesting. |

Where'd you see it at, Eric?
jpj=Eric, right? |
