Took me a second to get that.
that's because my humor is so sophisticated and complex that ordinary people puzzle over it.

yeah, its the envy one.

MBS 01-21-2006 12:32 AM
yeah, its the envy one.
Sweet.

I just watched Shaun of the Dead. I thought the end was the funniest part, IMO.

JonG 01-21-2006 12:34 AM
yeah. i like doing favors! if you guys had asked me i wouldve done it.

which reminds me....was i supposed to upload something for someone? i thought i did but i dont really remember.
Simon and Garfunkel?

:)

PinkFreud 01-21-2006 12:41 AM

was that it? cool. i will get on that now.

JonG 01-21-2006 12:43 AM

Yeah.

Thanks.

I'm uploading "Flowers" right now.

MBS 01-21-2006 12:46 AM

NP: Faith Noel - Trans-Siberian Orchestra

I think they are the only non seasonal Christmas music I can stand.

PinkFreud 01-21-2006 12:49 AM

theyre so over the top. everyone else loves them but they irritate me.

rilo kiley overload. cant....take...it....

Jacaranda 01-21-2006 01:43 AM

Got some more CD's today guys!

Spoon - Kill the Moonlight
Fugazi - Repeater
Tomahawk - Mit Gas

Um, ya, since no one cares. I just haven't been around and have nothing to contribute.

PinkFreud 01-21-2006 02:24 AM

tomahawk is sweet. i like mit gas more than their self-titled. i think the songs differ more and patton's voice shows more dimensions.

magicbus 01-21-2006 03:41 AM

Shaun of the Dead is really cool. Except for the part where the guy gets ripped apart. That reminded me too much of a real zombie movie and not a comedy.

So I need some more Flying Burrito Bros. because now that I'm away I can't rip my dad's cds anymore.

NP: Flying Burrito Bros. - Christine's Tune.

PinkFreud 01-21-2006 04:16 AM

jenny lewis, the lead singer for rilo kiley is putting out a solo album which features a cover of "handle with care." it has guests conor oberst and ben gibbard trading verses with her. it's ok. different. weird.

Magicbus - I'm still working on getting "Something" recorded, but it'll happen eventually rest assured

JonG 01-21-2006 12:36 PM

I sent out Dick's Picks Vol. 12.

All 3 CD's.

It's good. The whole show is amazing.

Highlights:
China Cat Sunflower
Truckin'
Spanish Jam
Wharf Rat
Sugar Magnolia
Eyes of the World
Medley
U.S. Blues
Ship of Fools

I'll send out Joe's Garage 1-2-3 in a bit too.

MidnightRider 01-21-2006 12:50 PM

UTvol48@aol.com

Could I get all that's been sent out? I don't think my names on the list.

JonG 01-21-2006 12:59 PM

Sent it.

I just need to get one track off Joe's Garage and I will send it out.

Broken Arrow 01-21-2006 02:17 PM

This Dicks Picks is amazing.

I was outside shoveling and lsitening to the song Big River and came in side downloaded CD-2 and now I'm listening to it again. :)

I love that song.

I also just edited my review on Happy Trails since it was really out dated and not that good. It's a bit better now though.

Did anyone get a bunch of snow last night?

robo2448 01-21-2006 02:32 PM

I just downloaded the Dick's Picks and I'm about to listen to it. The first two discs failed the first time I tried to download them, but I've got everything now. I can tell it's a really long concert just from looking at the song lengths.

magicbus 01-21-2006 02:33 PM

Yea it was sleeting all evening, and then it started snowing around 11. Needless to say, we went outside and played some snow football at 3.

NP: VU - Lady Godiva's Operation

JonG 01-21-2006 05:11 PM

It snowed a little bit.

But, hey it is Iowa.

It can be 60 degrees one day, the next it will be a blizzard.

np: Eyes of the World off DP12.

Amazing.

zabbit82 01-21-2006 07:23 PM

Michigan is worse. If you dont like the weather, wait 15 minutes...

West Virginia weather is fucked up too.

Late November/early December it was unseasonally cold, but a few days before Christmas it warmed up. Since than it's been in the mid-40s to upper 50s during the day, but it's usually in the 20s. It still gets cold at night though.

I take it neither one of you has been to Massachusetts.
Yeah, it worked the thrid time for me
Phoenix? I thought you lived in Connecticut...?

JonG 01-21-2006 08:35 PM

I downloaded Dick's Picks Vol. 1 and 18 today.

Along with:

Big Bill Broonzy - Complete Work
Charley Patton - Founder of the Delta Blues
I downloaded Dick's Picks Vol. 1 and 18 today.
What do you use to download music? I want all these Dick's Picks but don't want to keep asking you to upload them.
I was outside shoveling and lsitening to the song Big River and came in side downloaded CD-2 and now I'm listening to it again. :)
I love the Me and My Uncle>Big River from the Closing of Winterland concert.

robo2448 01-21-2006 09:16 PM
I take it neither one of you has been to Massachusetts.
Massachusetts in the winter is brutal. I've never been to Michigan, but I'd bet that it would be pretty brutal there too.

It's been unseasonably warm here recently. Like in the 50s. It snowed last Sunday, but aside from that it's been really warm. It's been really stormy and windy too though. I lost my power all day Sunday and then again all day Wednesday and Thursday. Usually I only lose power like once a year for like an hour. The weather's been messed up.

So I finally saw Walk the Line this afternoon. It was great. I feel like putting some Cash on now.

Porcupine_F*cker 01-21-2006 09:37 PM

Velvet Underground anyone?

JonG 01-21-2006 09:52 PM

I use Soulseek.

I have gotten a hold of 3 in about 3-5 days.

:)

I'll upload 18 tonight when I'm sleeping, and then 1 tomorrow. 1 only has about 14 songs total.
Velvet Underground anyone?

Loaded is easily there best album. It's perfect. I have w/ Nico, Loaded, s/t and the Legendary Guitar Amp Tapes.

Lunch 01-21-2006 10:01 PM

How is Soulseek, in general?

JonG 01-21-2006 10:05 PM

Amazing. Ever since the YSI thread in Other Music got shut down I've been limited to downloading full albums. Besides the mailing lists, I've headed on over to Soulseek, where there is plenty of good stuff.

Does it have any negative effects on computer performance? It sounds like it could be useful for me.

JonG 01-21-2006 10:12 PM

Nope. All of the music I download, is ripped straight off the CD. You can use it like a P2P for individual songs, but I don't.

It's not a RAM hog either. Better then any other P2P I've ever used.

Also good, since there is a MX room, where you can download off other MX'ers who have Soulseek.

Lunch 01-21-2006 10:16 PM

Sounds amazing. I might try to get it.

Krabsworth 01-21-2006 10:56 PM

Anyone have Sunshine Superman by Donovan? I really wanna hear it...
