I uploaded that Floyd bootleg in the Pink Floyd thread and the Other Music and A&I YSI threads.
What do you guys think of Wings, and in particular their Band on the Run album?
Aha, I always thought the lyrics were "Man on the Run." Great song, but thats about all I've heard by Wings. Any recommendations?

Anyone got anything else by The Yardbirds?

/only has "For Your Love" and "Heart Full of Soul" and like them both a lot

jpj 08-12-2005 12:03 PM

I have Roger the Engineer and their newest album Birdland.

MBS 08-12-2005 01:03 PM
What do you like about it?
The transition how it goes from different sounding sections of the song.

It's kind of like the Beatles song "Happiness is a Warm Gun".

And you can't forget the awesome chorus "Baaaand on the run"

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-12-2005 01:16 PM

I got a (rare) live album with Jimmy Page. It sounds like Zeppelin with a better singer. It features the 1st (stolen) version of "Dazed and Confused" too.
Have you guys heard of a band called Creation? They sound a lot like the Who.
I like how you keep bringing up psychedelic bands that no-one knows about.

The guitarist was the 1st to use a bow on a guitar. (it was either him or Syd Barrett) They seriously don't get the fame they deserve. I'm a fan.

I thought The Yardbirds credited Holmes

Anyway, Roger the Engineer is a great mix of psychedelic and blues rock.

Illmatic 08-12-2005 01:39 PM

Anyone have Is It Rolling Bob? A Reggae Tribute to Bob Dylan? It's all reggae artists doing covers of Dylan songs. I think I like Breres Hammond's version of "Just Like a Woman" better than the Dylan original.

I'd really like that versino of Dazed and Confused

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 02:31 PM

I have Roger the Engineer and I also have their debut, "Five Live Yardbirds".

robo2448 08-12-2005 02:33 PM

Roger the Engineer is a good album. That's all I have by them though.

I thought about getting it when it came out, but passed. I could see looking into it again, I am a fan of Reggae, Bob Dylan and Reggae tributes.
But Lunch just expanded the QMS love and made a really good thread about them letting alot of people know who they are.

He introduce Spirit. The Family That Plays Together is fantastic. Great mixture of classical, jazz, blues and psychedelia. Thanks Lunch. :)
Yep, I'm awesome :p

I've been away for a week and couldn't think of anything else to say, sorry about that.

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 04:21 PM

Hey you up for trading some of your new psychedelia?

Lunch 08-12-2005 04:24 PM
Hey you up for trading some of your new psychedelia?
Yea, I'd rather just upload it though so I don't have to send the same thing multiple times, in case other people are interested.

What are you looking for in particular?

That's what I kinda meant.

I really don't care.

Ah, you're ahead of the game then. I'll probably put up the first Spirit album and the Electric Prunes album.

I think Dub Side of the Moon made a good name for Reggae tributes everywhere

...or at least Dub tributes..

Yea, I agree, they don't get enough recognition.

I played some Syd-era Floyd at work the other day :)

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to more Spirit. Welcome back.

Lunch 08-12-2005 04:52 PM

I find Spirit to be a really good band, and their first album has the infamous Taurus on it. You can decide for yourself how much Page used for Stairway to Heaven.

ATM 08-12-2005 04:52 PM

So I am going to go see Robert Fripp :D

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 06:31 PM

I think I'm gonna buy an Allman Brothers Boxset on Monday.

Dub, Reggae, same thing.

I just got $20, first time in awhile that I have money to buy a CD.

And suggestions on what I should get?

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 06:38 PM

What gnre are you looking at?

The Allmans Boxset I'm getting has unrealeased tracks from '66.

Badmoon 08-12-2005 06:41 PM

I'm not partial to any genre right now, recommend anything.

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 06:48 PM

A Santana album, preferably on of the first 3.

robo2448 08-12-2005 06:54 PM
Dub, Reggae, same thing.

I got $546 today. I got a paycheck from my job for $446, then I got $100 in tips since it was the last day of camp. I'm a counselor at a daycamp. Any suggestions for what I should buy? :p

For some reason, I feel like saving money for now. I may by a cd or 2 though.

Marzcho 08-12-2005 07:07 PM

I think ppl should cool down on Zeppelin. It seems like everyone hates them. They've used a few songs to makes song of their own. So what? The songs they make are great, and if they wouldn't have made those songs that ppl claim them to have copied, maybe the original songs wouldn't have been as recognized as they are.

Actually, out of all the regulars in this thread, Schyma and I are the only posters who don't like them. We have discussed the thieving music issue to death in here, and it doesn't really affect most of our opinions on them. We just don't like Zeppelin n00bs who believe that Led Zeppelin is the only good band out there.
