Rite, can some one help me in finding out what ride this is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBwfe3TBDO8
That is the only top view i have ever found.

I love the sound of his ride, and and trying to guess what it is, but cant.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MZRLxYtoDY
Another listen/view, but still cant see the model.
I only watched the first video.

Since that ride is very crashable it is probably medium weight.

If you look closely, you can see that there is only one word "ride" at the opposite end from the K logo.

So that means that ride is a K Ride. Looks like 20" or 22". Could be 24" possibly.

I have a few questions about some cymbals:

Does the 20" AA Medium Ride weigh more (in physical weight) than the 20" AAX Stage Ride? I know they are both "medium weight" rides but that is cymbal weight.
Does the AAX Studio Ride make for a good crash?
How hard are AA Rock crashes to move? Is crashing a rock crash like crashing a medium ride?

Thanks for the help.

about the AA medium ride it has less wash than the stage, about the weight i don't know, but i like the AA medium better. The studio ride weghts the same as the studio crashes you can get a 20" studio crash, probably you'll get the same sound.

the AA rock crash are nice you just have to hit them a bit harder but the sound it's great, the 16" has a short decay, a 18" or bigger it's a cymbal to have next to the ride

That is what i was thinking. But then I wasnt sure if it was a K Ride, or a K Custom Ride.

But im going to try both out, and see what i like more. As im looking for a ride, sort of his ride (as i use the same set up, and tend to crash alot on my ride). But Ii want a trad finish.

Thanks. That's really what I needed to know.

Is the AA Medium ride good for crash riding? I'd try one out but damn GC doesn't even carry the AA line.

mmm, yeah i guess it's a medium weight, but it will have this huge crash sound, if you want a ride you can crash a lot get the studio but it has too much was, in few words get the AA medium

well uhhh...pics i guess...*pretends not to care while muttering under his breath*

isp_of_doom 07-22-2006 05:44 AM

Hello cymbal finding machine! My current cymbal setup consists of:

13" K/Z combo Hi hats
18" K Custom Ride
19" A Custom Crash
16" Stagg Crash (SH or DH)
12" Stagg Splash (SH or DH) the crash is on and the splash is the other
10" Zildjian ZXT Ti Splash
13" Brandless china (loud mothaF though!)... like a gong

Anyway, I'm looking at possibly getting a few more cymbals (we'll see what I can afford), but I was thinking at least a crash and a china, maybe 2 crashes and a china.

I want something that goes well with my current cymbals, as a crash I'd like something like a 16", 17" max. China... hmm... probably similar size. I've always liked the sound of Sabian cymbals, but I've ended up with mainly zildjians from various second hand auctions (all cymbals in good nic though, except the 12" stagg splash.) I'd like the china to have a fast decay (or at least not have a long decay).

I play mainly prog/rock/metal, but am looking at getting into the jazz and latin styles more...

SO! cymbal suggestions? (thanks :thumb:)

i would, but its up with my grandparents in weschester, and im in albany, 3 hours away, cuz i didnt want to pay shiping.

i got it from ebay new, for 1200. theres no snare, but it comes with 8x7 tom in addition to the fusion size setup.

ill post them in a week, or 3 weeks.

Quinto 07-22-2006 06:27 PM

china id suggest a smaller wuhan, am 10"er maybe, for crashes, i cant help you, i just can support y0ou turning your kit in to one of those trivium or ttnsb kits, where theres a thousand cymbals, and theres only 3 utilized in the entire song.

but i guess if you must, the paiste 2002 17" i really versatile, and just about any crash in the a custom line will go with yours.
