If you liked those cheak out Animals. But if you want to hear a different Pink Floyd sound cheak out Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

So, here I was on spring break and me and my buddy popped in The Italian Job. For those of you who don't know, it is a movie that came out a couple years ago, and it's really kickarse. Anyways, I was watching it, and on comes this sweet bassline. None other than Money, but not the Pink Floyd version. It was actually quite good, I thought, so at the end of the movie, I looked at the credits and sure enough it read Money-written by Roger Waters performed by Scott Wieland Duff McCagan Slash and the other members of Velvet Revolver. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard this cover song, and if so, could you YSI it to me? :D If you haven't heard it, I would really reccomend it. I like it better than VR's other stuff. Other than the solo, which Slash ruins, it's a fairly good cover. :thumb:

pigonthewing82 04-13-2005 08:00 PM

Wow bumped from page five.

So has anybody here seen any of the movies that Pink Floyd has done soundtracks too?

Also what do you guys think of Gilmour's solo at the end of "The Gold is in The...." off OBC? I think that is one of his best solo's and really underrated, and I've never seen it talked about around here.

lunch998 04-13-2005 08:02 PM

I really like his tone and the solo of the first track on that album.

magicbus 04-13-2005 08:06 PM

My favorite solo off of Obscured By Clouds is probably on Childhood's End. It's different, but very cool. Kinda reminds me of the Have A Cigar solo.

Yeah a lot of stuff on that album reminds me of a lot of their stuff after it. Free Four's lyrics remind me a lot of Time.

rippa32 04-15-2005 04:19 AM

Ive heard bike is a good song. Can anyone tell me what album it would appear on?

Kingofdudes 04-15-2005 05:59 AM

Piper at the Gates of Dawn

DeusExMachina 04-15-2005 02:08 PM
PATGOD: Astronomy Domine
Suacerful of Secrets: Let There Be More Light
Meddle: One of These Days
Obscured By Clouds: Obscured By Clouds
DSotM: Eclipse
WYWH: SOYCD(6-9)
Animals: Dogs
The Wall: Hey You

None of you guys have the guts not to pick Echoes.
I think its more that Echoes is the best song on the album.

slowhand 04-15-2005 09:06 PM

I was looking for Ummagumma the other day when I had the money to buy it, and I didn't find it. Then, the next day I find it, but don't have the money for it.

We live in a sick world.

rippa32 04-16-2005 05:07 AM

I got Meddle today. Can I call myself a fan now? lol. But anyway great album, but much different from what I expected (I previously only had Dark Side). Is all thier pre Dark Side material similair?

A lot of it is more "out there" if that makes any sense.

ROM 04-16-2005 09:17 AM

Pink Floyd is good but I find the bass lines too easy for me

Kingofdudes 04-16-2005 09:23 AM

Thats because Roger sucked(s) at bass.

magicbus 04-16-2005 09:32 AM
Yeah, it's generally more "out there" as Gilmour said, and a lot of it also far more psychedlic than their later work. Their first two albums in particular, both of which featured Syd Barrett in one capactity or another fall into this category, but after his "death" very little that they did could really be thought of as psychedelic in my opinion.
Fixed :p

Meddle is very cool. I hope you enjoy it, rippa.

And keep looking for Ummagumma guys, you won't be disappointed!

I don't have a problem finding it, but it's always 22$ or so. I have a hard time convincing myself to buy it.

Also right now I'm focusing on getting more CDs of of Bands that I don't own yet.

Kingofdudes 04-16-2005 09:36 AM

Same with me. I guess you could call some of their later stuff atmospheric, but according to IAJP, atmospheric music is basically psychedelic.

magicbus 04-16-2005 09:40 AM

I think Meddle started the "atmospheric" stage, which is a good way of putting it, because all of the albums after that had that vast, epic feel to them. While the few albums before (PATGOD and SFOS) I'd consider psychadelic because they were shorter songs, and a bit more "in your face", not as laid back, but still experimental and crazy.

And yea Lunch, $22 is a bit much for a cd. I ended up getting it for Christmas.

Kingofdudes 04-16-2005 09:51 AM
He didnt die did he?
No, he is still alive.

lunch998 04-16-2005 09:54 AM

In a way he died.

Just not in the real way.

I wish it was $22 around here. I've only have found it at $26!

lunch998 04-16-2005 10:02 AM

I don't mind paying upwards of 20$ for a CD, but for a marginal CD I am alittle skeptical.

slowhand 04-16-2005 10:07 AM

I don't mind paying $20 or up on any CD, specially if it contains two CD's and a poster. But if it was $22, it would be easier for me to get it than at $26.

lunch998 04-16-2005 10:10 AM

Yea, good point. Whenever I get a job, I'll go out and buy it.
